     Mary Helen Cheyne was born, 19 September 1886, at 7 AM, in Balnamoon, Tyrie Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The birth record was marked illegitimate and her father was not identified.1

Mary Hellen Cheyne was listed as a granddaughter in the household of John Cheyne and his wife, Helen Cheyne, on the 1891 Scotland Census, in New Pitsligo Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was listed as 4 years old and born in Tyrie Parish.2

Mary H. Cheyne was listed as a granddaughter in the household of John Cheyne and his wife, Helen Cheyne, on the 1901 Scotland Census at Balnamoon Croft, in New Pitsligo Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. She was also listed as, age 14, general servant, born in New Pitsligo.3,4,5

Mary Helen Bain was found on a passenger list, dated 29 April 1909, at Quebec, Quebec, Canada. She was a second class passenger aboard the Corinthian out of Glasgow and listed as 22, a housewife joining her husband in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Presbyterian and of Scotch descent.6

Mary Helen Cheyne married Frederick Charles Malcolm Bain after 29 April 1909, at Saint Andrews Presbyterian Church, in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada. Attached is a photo of Frederiack and Mary Helen taken at the time of their marriage. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. D. L. (Paddy) Oliver. [N.B.-No marriage record was found at ScotlandsPeople 1900-1910, all districts.]7,8,9

After their marriage, Mary Helen and Fred settled on a farm in Trafford District (E1/2 Sec. 11 township 15, Range 3W.1), Saskatchewan where Mary Helen lived until a few years after Fred's passing in 1944.

Helen Cheyne lived with her daughter, Mary Helen Bain, after the death of her son-in-law, in 1944, and the two lived in Moosomin, until Mary Helen could no longer care for her. Then Helen was cared for by her eldest granddaughter, Muriel Helen McDonald nee Bain, also in Moosomin, She remained there until her death in 1952.10

Mary Helen Cheyne died 11 December 1967 at Moocomin Union Hospital in Moosomin, Saskatchewan, Canada. Her obituary from the local newspaper is attached.11

Mary Helen Cheyne was buried, at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Moosomin South, Saskatchewan, Canada..12
