Have been trying for years to find Civil War information about my gggrandfather, Robert Brown whom I believe enlisted in Parker County, TX. What I know about him: b. ca 1832 in AL.Was in Parker Co. by 1857 when he witnessed some documents, married Izella M. Kidwell about 1861 (child, Sarah Jane, was born August 2, 1861). His family was on the Confederate Indigent Families Index-Parker County 1863-1865, he was dead by 1863 when his father-in-law,Stephen L. Kidwell, was Administrator of his Estate per County tax list. I have found whom I think to be his brother, Eli P. Brown in the 5th Regiment Texas Mounted Volunteers Co.K serving as a teamster. This is logical since they were farmers. There is no widow's pension since Izella remarried to William Greenberry Moore in 1864 and did receive a pension on her 2nd husband's service. I have searched through the Hill College History Complex Confederate Research Center. They tell me they do not have much information about Parker County participants. There is a CSA headstone in Dilbeck Cemetery in Parker County for a Robert Brown, no dates, Co.A 1st Missouri Cavalry. So little info, such an ordinary name makes it tough!

My GGGGrandfather, John B. EVERETT and several of his sons and their families are found in Parker Co., Texas in the 1880 census. Their occupations are all listed as glassblower. In all previous and subsequent censuses, as well in other family documentation, this family lived in Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia in locations where there was/is a well-documented glass-making industry. They apparently moved frequently, following the jobs. I would appreciate any information regarding the glass-making industry in or near Parker Co., in the late 1800s.
