children of Ambrose Madison and Frances Taylor (James Madison,
born 27 March 1723 and Frances Madison, born 6 March 1726).
Other godparents named were Thomas Madison, James Taylor, Martha
Taylor, James Pendleton and Isabell Pendleton.

1825, Lucy 1778-1822, William 1781-1852.
She immediately went insane and was cared for by her parents; in
1814 she was committed to the asylum at Williamsburg. -
Benjamin Zachary was one of the men who inventoried and
appraised the estate of William Roebuck in 1782 (this William?);
the others were: Ambrose Medley and Zachariah Gibbs. Will
probated 21 Jan 1782. The will of William Rice, Culpeper Co. On
8 Jun 1778 William bought land from William Roebuck, Culpeper."
May 20, 1770, William Roebuck purchased 365 acres of land from
Nathaniel Gray and Mary his wife for the sum of 73 pounds. The
land was in Culpeper County on Robinson Run adjoining Mr.Vernon,
Blunt, and Quinn.
On August 8, 1771, Richard Vernon and his wife Sarah deeded as a
gift to (son-in-law William Roebuck) 150 acres on Beautiful Run.
William Roebuck and Mary his wife sold 140 acres in 1778 to
William Zachery.
October 25, 1779, Thomas Lord Fairfax, Proprietor of the
Northern Neck, Virginia, granted to William Roebuck of Culpeper
County, land on the German Ridge in the said county, containing
302 acres adjoining Michael Blankenbaker and Robert Roebuck.
William Roebuck's name appears on the list of men from Culpeper
County eligible for the draft into the Continental Army, Class
#105, January 1781. However, he was not drafted, but served in
the Militia.
William wrote his will October 30, 1780, and it was probated at
the January Court 1782. The entire will follows: In the name of
God Amen I William Roebuck of Brumfield Parish and County of
Culpeper being
in perfect health praised be to God do make this my last Will
and Testament as followeth - Imprimis I lend to my beloved wife
Mary Roebuck all my estate both real and personal during her
widowhood except as
hereafter Excepted & provided but if it be her pleasure to Marry
at any time after my Decease then I lend unto her the new house
which I have built and One Hundred & Twenty Five acres of land
--
two hundred and forty acres unto my son Rawleigh Roebuck -- him
paying one half of the sum to which the said Two hundred and
forty acres shall be valued to his two younger sisters when he
comes to age and is possessed of the land --
unto my Eldest Daughter Elizabeth Roebuck the whole of the land
joining my Honoured father Robert Roebuck and Mr. Blankenbaker
--
my two younger daughters Milly & Lucy have parts of my estate
equal to their brother and sister before mentioned --
any part of my personal estate that can be spared be sold by my
Executors and the monies acruing from such sale be Imployed in
Educating my children and laid out in purchising such estate
most conducive to the advantage of my family --
And lastly I constitute appoint and ordain John Walker
attn-at-law Mr. David Tinsley my brother Robert Roebuck and my
beloved wife Mary Executors and Executrix -- In the presents of
Joshua Lindsay Lussy Vernon Sarah Vernon
Richard Vernon October 30, 1780
This last will and testament of William Roebuck deceased was
exhibited to the court by Robert Roebuck and Mary Roebuck proved
by the oaths of Joshua Lindsay and Sarah Vernon Twenty first day
of January 1782. A number of Court records and documents exist
which unfold the pitiful situation of the Mary ( Vernon )
Roebuck. At a court held for Culpeper County the 17th day of
April 1787 ordered that it be certified to his Excellency the
Govenor that William Roebuck a private in the Militia from this
County at the siege died in said service and left a widow with
five small children and that the said Mary Roebuck is of insane
