     Mae E. Hovelsrud was born on 16 May 1929 at Hawley, Clay County, Minnesota.1 She died on 19 April 2011 at her home, rural Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, at age 81.1
     Her obituary appeared on 23 April 2011 at Detroit Lakes Tribune and read as follows:
     "Mae E. Livingood, 81, of rural Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her home. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23 in Bakke Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mae E. Livingood, 81, of rural Detroit Lakes, died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at her home.

Mae was born the daughter of Julius and Annie (Hovelson) Hovelsrud on May 16, 1929 in Hawley. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Hawley. After graduating from high school, she went to work at the Becker County Courthouse.

Mae was married to Dean Livingood on January 17, 1951 in Detroit Lakes. They moved to Alabama while Dean served in the military. Mae and Dean returned to Detroit Lakes and later moved to Fergus Falls, before returning to the family farm in rural Detroit Lakes, Oleo Acres.

Mae worked as a secretary at Swift and Company for 20-plus years before retiring.

Mae was very active member at Bakke Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time at their lake cabin on Little Sugar Bush Lake. Mae loved the campfires and the many marshmallows/smores she shared with her family and grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing and crocheting.

Mae and Dean spent many years traveling in the United States. Mae was known for her popcorn balls during Halloween, her lefse at holidays, her baked bread and buns. She will be missed and remembered as a really good mom.

Surviving Mae are her husband, Dean Livingood of Detroit Lakes; children, Bruce (Nancy) Livingood of Ham Lake, Minn., Michael (Lolly) Livingood of Detroit Lakes, Steven (Louise) Livingood of Three Forks, Mont., Connie (Jeff) Adkins of Detroit Lakes, Carol (Gary) Wood of Detroit Lakes, and Keith (Patricia) Livingood of Shoreview, Minn; 18 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; one sister, Alice Esbenson of North Fargo; sister-in-law, Grace Hovelsrud of Fargo-Moorhead; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Mae in death were her parents; infant son, Dean Livingood Jr; great grandson, Eric Hoopman Jr; three brothers, Nilmer, Clifford and Melvin Hovelsrud; and two sisters, Alpha Anderson and Bernice Norman.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, with a 5:30 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23 in Bakke Lutheran Church, rural Detroit Lakes, with interment in the church cemetery.
