In same household 1850, Joseph K. Stewart age 18 (Argyle p. 156). 1865 census notes she bore 2 children, both of them accounted for.
Family holds that John Baird rescued Mary Hall from a wrecked ship near "old Perth Amboy" New Jersey and married her. However, apparently the same story concerns his son John Baird and his wife Avis Bowne.

[13096] Both Halsey genealogies show that this surname was written "Halsey alias Chambers" but there is no explanation as to why this was the case. There are several earlier generations noted but, at this time, I am not adding them to this database. FamilySearch.org online shows many entries for these families, many of which appear to have questionable information.
[13095] There seems to be some question as to place of birth as there were a number of Thomas Halseys in England at the same time. More research will be necessary but, for now, I am using the place as given in this genealogy.
His will, dated June 1677 was probated in New York on 8 July 1679.
He married, 2d, Mrs. Ann Johns (Johnes or Jones), 25 July 1660, in Southampton, L.I., NY.
[15156] Other sources say she was the widow of Edward Jones. Children were all by the first wife.
He died in 1688, with burial in Hay Ground graveyard, Bridgehampton, Long Island, NY.
