The marriage records for his children are consistent in the spelling of his name, and the similar name Buttex (Jaques Jaquier, notary at Moudon, ACV DL 52/1). In spite of this, the church records at Granges are suspected of confusing the two names, for we find the baptism of Jaques son of François Buttex "depuis curial à Granges". No such title is mentioned for either François Buttex or his son Jaques in the marriage contracts, but François Bettex is given various titles such as Curial and Secrétaire de Lucens. While the baptisms at Granges seem to belong to the Buttex family, some doubt remains.

In one record, she is called Marguerite Bessé or perhaps Betté. The latter is consistent with our understanding of the contemporary pronunciation of Bettex.

Daniel Meyer and his wife Elizabeth Betthon, uncle and aunt of the infant, appear at the baptism of Daniel Johannot, son of Jean Johannot and Susan Betthon, in 1724. Elizabeth Betthon appears also in 1716 as aunt of Paul Elizée Johannot, this presumably before her marriage to Daniel Meyer, which, however, is not recorded at Morges.

First appearance in Morges seems to be at a baptism, 01 jan 1690. His last appearance seems to be at the marriage of his daughter Susanne to Jean Johannot. Members of his family appear in various baptismal records. 1694-95 refugee census notes 3 daughters and 1 son, ages 8, 6, 3 years, and 14 months, with servant Madelaine Porte age 25. (The date on the census is nominal, it appears it stretched into 1696.)
[3091] age 53 in 1694-95 refugee census lists, Morges, Vaud, SWZ
[3092] A death recorded this date at Morges names "Mr. Bethon, refugié", no age given. The record could be either Paul Betthon, or his son Bernard.
Name is spelled various ways: Betthon, Bethon, Beton. As a result, there is possible confusion with the indigenous Vaudois surname Bettens.
[3166] Witnesses were Paul Font and his wife Susanne de Lort. Surname in this record appears to be Reton rather than Beton.
[3167] Burial register of Morges: age 88, widow of Mr. Jean Johanot of Annonay, bourgeois d'Echandens.
