Jacksboro, Tennessee, 1860
I, Barnabus Alder, do make and publish this my last Will and
Testament, hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time
made.
First, I direct that my funeral expenses be paid as soon after my
death as possible out of any monies I may die siezed or possessed of as may
first come into the hands of my executors.
Second, I give and bequeath to my wife, Susan, the farm on which
I now live, with all our house furniture during her natural life and other
property belonging to the same to do as she pleases with, but not to convey the
land.
Third, I give and bequeath to my eight sons, towit; John Alder,
Willie D. Alder, Henderson Alder, Barnabus Alder, Geo. R. Alder, Caloway F.
Alder, Willie Alder, John Alder, all my estate, both real and personal, at the
death of (2) Equally divided, only Henderson Alder is to have the place he now
lives on and Willie D. Alder have the forty acre land warrent and then to share
equally with the balance of the above named towitt.
My daughter is to have nothing more than what they have already
had given them in land and property.
We give and bequeath to our wife, Susan, all our interest in the
State of Anderson County and to take the same into their possession immediately
after the death of Sarah Yarnd, formerly Sarah Cheek, and the sum is to be
equally divided among each of them, the above is agreed upon by Barnabus Alder
and his wife, Sarah Alder.
I nominate and appoint John Alder my executor in witness whereof
I do to this my will set my hand and seal this first day of October
1856.

The lastt Will and Testament of Barnabus Alder and his wife,
Susan Alder, was presented here in open court for probate, and thereupon came
James D. Campbell and D. Curnut subscribingwitnessess thereto, who being first
sworn, depose and say that they heard the said Barnabus Alder and his wife Susan
Alder acknowledge the foregoing instrument to be their last will and testament
and at th etime of making said acknowledgement they was of sound mind and
deposing memory, to the best of their knowledge and belief.
Witness my hand at office this 1st day of April
1860.
