1806-1810
This Indenture made this ladt day of January in the
year of Eighteen Hundred and six, between Thomas Campbell of the one party and
Henry Carlock of the other party, both in the County of Anderson and State of
tennessee. Witness that the said Thomas Campbell for and, in consideration of
the sum of Five Hundred dollars ti his hand paid, the reciept whereof is hereby
given, hath by these presents, doth grant, bargain, sell, ?ll?on in fee of and
confirm unto the sd. Henry Carlock, his heirs and assigns forever, a certain
tract of land containing Four Hundred acres, be the same, more or less, lying
and being in Powells Valley, Eastern District, adjoining the North East line of
Hendersons big survey. Being a grant granted to George Moswell aand Francis
Maybury. Beginning on a sapling sugar tree in Hendersons line marked thus, M
thence running along Hendersons line S. 45 Deg. W. 280 poles to a hickory and
poplar crossing a branch, thence N. 45 deg. W. two and ninety poles to a stake,
thence North forty five degrees 280 poles to a stake, thence to athe beginning,
containing 500 acres, more or less, with all and singular etc.

To have and To hold the said 500 acres of land with
the appurtenancees unto the siad Henry Carlock, his heirs and assigns, forever,
against the lawful title, claim and demand of all and every person or persons
whatsoever, shall and will warrent and forever defend by their
presents.
In witness whereof the siad Thomas Campbell hath
hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.

bank, to a stake. Thence North to a stake below the mill, thence East 12 poles
to the Ash Sapling marked, thence North to a Poplar and Hickory trees, marked as
a division between Richard Linville and said Carlock and so on to the top of the
mountain, thence West to Campbell line, and with the same to the beginning.
Cotaining fifty acres of land, more or less, with all and singular, etc. etc.

This Indenture made this 22nd day of December in the
year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and six between Littleberry Crowly
of the County of Campbell and State of Tennessee of the one part and Joseph
Barron, of the County and State aforesiad, of the other part.
Witness that the siad Littleberry Crowley, far and in
consideration of the sum of six hundred dollars, to him in hand paid, the
reciept whereof is hereby acknowledged, hath and by presents doth grant,
bargain, sell, etc. etc.... A certain tract or parcel of land containing 150
acres, lying and being in the County of Campbell and State of Tennessee, in the
Powells Valley and bounded as follows: (towit) Beginning on a white oak on
Hearts line, and running North 52 deg. East 122 poles to two large white oaks on
Harts line, thence with Harts line, orth 28 degrees West, 200 poles to the
beginning, with all and singular etc. etc. etc.
To have and to hold the said 150 acres of land with
all it appurtenanous etc. etc.
In witness whereof the said Littleberry Crowly hath
hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above
written.

Crowley to Joseph Barron, was acknowledged in open court and ordered to be
registered.

This Indenture, made this 25th day of June, in the
year of our Lord, 1807, between Walter Alvis of the County of Orange and State
of North Carolina, of the one pert and Nathaniel David (Davis) is of the County
of Campbell and State of Tennessee, of the other part.
Wienesseth that tha said Walter Alvis for and in
consideration the sum of five thousand dollars, lawful money of the United
States of the America, to him in hand paid by the siad Nathaniel Davis at and
before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the reciept whereof is hereby
fully acknowledged, hath granted, bargained, sold, confirmed and conyeyed and by
these presents doth etc. etc. All that part of land situated lying and being on
the said County of Campbell and State of Tennessee, in Powells Valley and upon
Powells river, and containing six thousand five hundred acres, be the same more
or less, on the South side of Powells river ass hereafter more fully described:
being one of the lots which Richard Henderson and Company by their deed of
partition allotted to the said Walter Alvis, as a part of his share in right of
his wife Amelia only daughter and sole heir of William Johston deceased, who was
one of the original partners in the siad Company, which said bargained lot is
designated in the companys deed of partition and place by the letter D and umber
2 (D. No. 2) and between letters D and E bounded W the valley or Eastwardly by
Richard Henderson Lot C Number 2 and down the valley or Westwardly by Nathaniel
Harts Lot E Number 1. Being also the same lot, which the said Walter Alvis and
Amelia, his wife, sold and conveyed to Robert Anderson and Nathaniel Davis, by
deed bearing date the 19th day of August, Anne Domino 1790 and there after the
smae day conveyed by the siad Anderson and Davis by deed of mortgage to the siad
Walter Alvis and Amelia, his wife, to secure to them a certain sum of

money and upon the failure of the said Anderson and
Davis to make payment of the siad Walter and Amelia according to contract, a
suit was instituted and a judgement obtained by the said Walter against the said
Anderson and Davis in the Federal District Court of East Tennessee and by virtue
of said Sire Facias issued from said court to satisfy said judgement, the said
lot of land was levied on and sold by Charles P. Porter, Marshall of East
Tennessee, and purchased by the said Walter Alvis, dated the 26th day of October
1804, and registered in the registrars offices of Knoxville, Anderson and
Claiborn Counties, excepting and recieving from the above mentioned Lot D umber
2 hereby intended to be conveyed, all that part thereof lying South of Powells
river and adjoining the line of Lot B and between the same and the lines of
Russell and Williams, and including the lead, cre, bank or banks and containing
not less than 100 acres of land.
To have and To hold the aforesaid land and premises,
with the appurtenances to the said Nathaniel Davis, his heirs and assigns, to
the only proper use and behalf of the said Nathaaniel Davis, his heirs and
assigns forever, and the said Walter Alvis, doth for himself and for his heirs,
excutors and adminstrators, covenant and agree to and with the said Nathaniel
Davis, his heirs, executor and adminstrators and assigns that the said Walter
Alvis the above described lands, the hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto
belonging, from and against the lawful claim of all and every person and persons
whatsoever, shall and will warrent and forever defend.
In witness whereof the said Walter Alvis hath hereunto
set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.
