Beverley Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia To all to
whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that by Virtue and in Consideration
of a Preemption Treasury Warrant Number one thousand Nine hundred & forty Issued the
thirteenth day of December one thousand seven hundred & eighty one, There is granted by
the said Commonwealth unto Van Swearingen heir at Law to Thomas Swearingen who
was Assignee of Abraham Chapline a Certain tract or Parcel of Land Containing Seven
Hundred & Ninety five Acres by Survey bearing date the twelfth day of January one
thousand Seven Hundred & eighty seven, lying and being in the County of Mercer &
bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at the North West corner of Abraham Chaplains
Settlement at a white oak, dogwood, Mulberry & black Walnut running thence West two
hundred twenty & one Quarter Poles to a Stake two poles West of a dead black oak in
Henry Higgins field, thence leaving a West Course as required by the entry & running
South by the Order of the Court three hundred & Ninety Poles to a white Oak & black Oak
on a ridge, thence leaving the line Ordered by the Court & running East according to entry
one hundred Ninety & one Quarter Poles to a Walnut, White Oak, Locust & hack berry
Standing Circular thence North one hundred & fifty three Poles to two elms & hack berry
corner to Abraham Chaplins Settlement thence with his line West two hundred & Seventy
Poles to two elms, Walnut & White Oak, thence North two hundred & thirty seven Poles
To the Beginning With its Appurtenances To Have & To Hold the said tract or Parcel of
Land, With its Appurtenances to the said Van Swearingen & his heirs for ever. In Witness
whereof the said Beverley Randolph Esquire Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia
hath hereunto set his hand and Caused the Lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be
affixed at Richmond on the 28th day of October in the Year of our Lord, one thousand
seven hundred and Eighty Nine & of the Commonwealth the Fourteenth ~

Mercer Co KY Deed Book 10, pg 234- 10 May 1817, John and Ann Smock, sold 175 acres to Lambert and Martha Darling, "corner to Overton's Survay".

Mercer Co Ky Deed Book 13, pg 461- Sept 9, 1825, Lambert and Martha Darling sold 150 acres to Robert Cox, "land where said Darland now lives, to begin corner to Alex McAllisters land".

This land became Anderson Co, KY when that County was created, and was located on Gilberts Creek, along the Kentucky River.
