To-Wit: a tract of land on which the said Joseph Hale, grandfather of the said James and Mary, lived and died, and also where Andrew Divine Sr. lived and died.
Price: not given***NOTE*** (from Arlene Brachman 7/16/2011): While looking at a deed you recorded #00019 for James Powell & his sister, Mary Claunch, selling land to their uncles John S & Andrew Divine in 1842, I noticed that someone had inserted the information that Mary Claunch was the daug/ of Joseph Hale. She was actually his grand daughter. (which it states later in the deed as well.) James Powell and Mary (Powell) Claunch were the children of James Powell, Sr and Hannah Hale. Both parents appear to be dead by 1842 when James Powell, Jr. & his sister, Mary Claunch sold the old Joseph Hale homestead in Mercer Co. James Powell, Jr moved to Martin Co., IN and his sister, Mary, and her husband were still in Mercer Co. in 1850.James Powell, his family and his nephew, Jeremiah Claunch, (s/o Samuel and Mary Claunch) were living in Martin Co., IN in 1860, 1870 & 1880. James Powell died 1 Aug 1882 and his wife, Margaret Nixon died 2 Aug 1883. They are buried in the Anderson Cemetery in Martin Co., In. Jeremiah Claunch, Jr. married Laura Ann Sharum 16 May 1856 in Martin Co., IN. and had a son, Jeremiah b Jan 1857. Jeremiah , Sr died between 1857 and 1860 probably in Martin Co. His wife remarried to George Crane 1 Jan 1862. George Crane remarried in 1868 so Laura Ann Sharum died between 1862/1868 in Martin Co., IN. Jeremiah Claunch & Laura Sharum had a son, Jeremiah b Jan 1857. It appears he never married and dropped off of the census after 1920 in Martin Co., IN.
