      Alexander Cheyne, in Loanhead of Gilcomstone, was made a burgess of Aberdeen, 20 October 1694.1

Alexander Cheyne married Janet Trail 6 April 1695, in Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.2

Alexander Cheyne, subtenant to William Bartlett; and, his unnamed wife, Janet Trail were found on the List of Pollable Persons in Aberdeenshire 1696. The entry reads as follows: "Alexander Chyne, subtennent [no free stock, &c.], his own and his wifes poll ... 12s 0d".3

The baptismal record of George Cheyne documented Alexander Cheyne, in Robflay, as his father, 20 February 1698, at Robflay, in Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Old Machar, 1673-1699, Page 218/Frame 257: "Said day (Febr. 20th 1698) Alex'r Chein (7341) in Robflay & Janet Trail (7342), his Spouse, a fon bap: Named George (7343), George Hogg, George Barela witt:" Mar 1695, 6 chn in St Nich.4

The baptismal record of John Cheyne documented Alexander Cheyne as his father, 29 June 1701, in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The entry in the Register of Baptisms reads: "Alexander Chein, Chapman in Aberdeen and Janet Trail his Spoufe had a Son named John baptized by Dr William Blair Minifter. John (Merch?) Donald, Merchant and John Innes. Merchant, Godfathers".5,6

The entry in the Register of Baptisms reads: "Alexander Chein, Chapman and Janet Trail his Spoufe had a Son named Alexander baptized by Dr William Blair Minifter. Alexander Moir, burger and Wright, Alexander (Cherftell?), burgher an Wright, Alexander (Imron?), Servant in Aberdeen, and Alexander ???, burgher and Merchant, Godfathers".7,8

The baptismal record of Jean Cheyne documented Alexander Cheyne as her father, 14 July 1706, in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The entry in the Saint Nicholas, Register of Baptisms, Volume 7, 1704-1734, frame 25, reads: "14 July 1706) Alexander Cheyne, Huckster and Jannet Traill, his spoufe, hade a daughter called Jean baptized be Dr Blair, witnefses John James James Philp and William Henderfon, Merchant".9,10

The baptismal record of Margaret Cheyne documented Alexander Cheyne as her father, 8 August 1708, in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The entry in the Saint Nicholas, Register of Baptisms, Volume 7, 1704-1734, frame 41, reads: "8th Auguft 1708) Alexander Chein, Chapman and Jannet Traill, his spoufe, had a daughter called Margaret baptized by Mr Blair, witnefses John Innes, merchant and Thomas ??????, maltman".11,12

The baptismal record of William Cheyne documented Alexander Cheyne as his father, 15 October 1710, in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The entry in the Saint Nicholas, Register of Baptisms, Volume 7, 1704-1734, frame 58, reads: "October 15th 1710) Alexander Chein, Indweller and Janet Traill, his Spoufe, had a son called William baptized by Mr Blair, witnefses William Merrell and William ??????, merchants".13,14

The baptismal record of Robert Cheyne documented Alexander Cheyne as his father, 8 September 1713, in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The entry in the Saint Nicholas, Register of Baptisms, Volume 7, 1704-1734, frame 85, reads: "September 8th 1713) Alexander Chein, Indweller and Janet Traill, his Spouse, had a son called Robert baptized by Dr Blair, witnefses Robert Morgan, merchant and Robert ????? ?????? ??????".15

Alexander Cheyne witnessed the christening of his cousin (once removed), Alexander Wishart, on 9 October 1720, at Scotstoun at Old Machar Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. The following is a transcription from the Register of Baptisms, Parish of Old Machar, 1699-1724, Page 448/Frame 264: "October Nynth 1720 W'm Wisehart (9516), ffarmer In Scotstoun & Mary Cheine (9515), his Spoufe, had a Son baptized by Mr. W'm Smith, Min'r & named Alexander (9519), Alex'r Moir, Alex'r Wisehart, Alex'r Chein (7341) & W'm Kerby Witnefses"..16
