Cheyne and John Cheyne were found on a passenger list with their mother Jane Ann Cheyne on 9 August 1924 at Quebec, Quebec, Canada, They were listed on a Manifest of Alien Passengers aboard the Regina, out of Greenock, the 2nd of August. She was 39 years old, married, a housewife; James S., 15, a messenger; and, John, 7, a scholar. All were born in Aberdeen. Their nearest relative in Scotland was her sister, Catherine Skinner, in Banchory Devenick. The were joining their husband and father, John Cheyne, 6416 Field Avenue, Detroit. None had previously been in the United States and their intent was to remain there.⁴
