Thomas was 28 years old, a labourer, born in Belfast; Margaret was 28 and born in Paisley; Thomas, junior was 2 and James was 10 months old. Both children born in Glasgow. None had previously been in Canada. They were joining Thomas' aunt, Mrs. Maria Magaw, in Montreal. His father, Thomas Cheyne, 73 Merchiston Street, Glasgow was their nearest relative in Scotland. All marked "Landed Immigrant".1
