     William Cormack was baptized, 15 January 1837, in Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. William Cormack was the probable illegitimate son of William Cormack and Margaret Davidson. Only his father was identified on his baptismal record, but he was with his mother on the 1851 census.1

William Cormack was in the household of Thomas Pyper and listed as stepson on the 1851 Scotland Census, at Marischal Street, in Peterhead, Peterhead Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland. He was listed as 14 years old, born in Peterhead Parish and a ship's carpenter.2
