24 February 1658. Andrew Cheyne, merchant, was admitted as a Burgess and Guild Brother of the City of Edinburgh. The abstracted entry in the Roll of Burgesses, 1406-1700, reads: "Cheyne (Chin), Andro, B. and G., mt., by r. of w. Mart., dr. to Jas. Alisone, mt., B. and G. 24 Feb 1658".1
