He was 5 years of age, born in Uphall Parish, Linlithgow and a scholar.1

Mary Cheyne, Thomas Cheyne, Alison Cheyne, Barbara Cheyne and Jessie Cheyne were listed as children in the household of Hugh Cheyne and his wife, Barbara Cheyne on the 1901 Scotland Census, at Victoria Place, in New Monkland Parish, Lanark, Scotland. He was 15 years of age, born in Uphall Parish, Linlithgow and a coal miner.2

Thomas Cheyne was found on a passenger list, dated 11 October 1920, at Quebec, Quebec, Canada. He probably was the Thomas Cheyne who was a steerage passenger aboard the Cassandra, out of Glasgow. He was listed as 34, married, born in Scotland and a miner. He had never been in Canada. He was destined for Gravenhurst, Ontario to be employed as a labourer.3
