George Smith and his wife, Jean Cheyne were listed at Mains of Fyvie, Fyvie Parish on the List of Pollable Persons in Aberdeenshire 1696. Also on the same page at Rothie was a Barbra Cheyne. Jean (1518) and Barbra (1541) were probably related. The entry reads as follows: "George Smith was ane taylor, but has not sight to work, as he affirms, being seventy years of age, and Jean Cheyne, his spouse... 12s 0d".
Two names following was a William Smith, cottar (no trade), who may have been their son.2
