He was also listed as a scholar.3

John Baxter Cheyne married Bertha Jane (?).4

David Cheyne, Alice Cheyne and John Baxter Cheyne were listed as children in the household of David Cheyne and his wife, Margaret Cheyne on the 1901 England Census, at Cheyne's Bldgs, in Cowpen Parish, Northumberland, England.5

John Baxter Cheyne was found on lists of military personnel between 1 September 1914 and 22 January 1919. John Baxter Cheyne was a private in the Northumberland Fusiliers. He was 33 years and 9 months of age on a medical report dated 1 September 1914 in Bedlington, and a miner in good health. That document may have been his enlistment medical report. He was injured by a shell hitting his right calf on 16 April 1918. He appeared to have been married but the name of his wife was not found. He may have resided at 72 Cheynes Terrace, Bebside, Northumberland.6

John Baxter Cheyne died 12 June 1945.7

His estate was probated on 1 May 1946 at London, England.8
