"The first Chasons to go into FL were 3 brothers ( funny how the story always starts with three brothers when you are talking about people going to new country) who mustered out of Andrew Jackson's army after the Seminole War and got land grants for their service. I think they may have also been French Protestants, as Chason is an anglicized French name. They apparently arrived in Charleston in the early 1700's and made their way to Wilmington by the late 1730's. It is an uncommon name and I have not run across it in many places." ^[S1862]
