     Daniel Vernon Schandel was born on 24 November 1928 at Morrison County, Minnesota.4,3 He was incorrectly reported as born on 24 November 1929.5 In 1949 Daniel was employed by St. Regis Paper Co. at Little Falls, Morrison County, Minnesota, as an oiler.6 He died on 7 December 2006 at Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, at age 77.7,8

A memorial service will be held for August Carl (Augie) Lentz, 91, of Long Prairie Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000 at 1:30 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Long Prairie. Cremains in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Long Prairie with the Rev. William Postel officiating. Visitation Tuesday, 5 - 7 p.m. at Stephan-Stein Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.

Honorary casketbearers will be Barry Bauer, Gary Zastrow, Wilbur Tesch and Joe Kruzel. Arrangements were made by Stephan-Stein Funeral Home, Long Prairie.

Mr. Lentz died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000 at St. Cloud.

He was born Aug. 29, 1908 to Adam and Clara (Schrul) Lentz in Rockford. He grew up and attended rural school near Long Prairie. After school he helped on the family farm and at neighbors' farms. He married Florence DuFrene June 27, 1940 in Sisseton, SD. He farmed near Long Prairie. In the 1950's he did carpentry work on several major dam projects in the Western US. He returned to Minnesota and continued doing carpentry work in several cities. He had worked as the sexton for Trinity Lutheran Church for the past 20 years. He entered Long Prairie Memorial Nursing Home June, 1999. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Long Prairie, serving on several boards over the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Clara; two brothers; and five sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Florence of Long Prairie; children, Merlen (Dan) Schandel of Blaine, Roger Lentz of Coon Rapids and Philip (Susan) Lentz of Long Prairie; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.10

Services were held Thursday, Feb. 22, 2001 for Florence P. Lentz, 84, of Long Prairie at Trinity Lutheran Church, Long Prairie with Pastor William Postel officiating.

Pallbearers were Barry Bauer, Ron Wienhold, Gary Zastrow, Bruce Moller, Bob Golnitz and Gerald Casper. Arrangements were made by Stephan-Stein Funeral Home, Long Prairie.

Mrs. Lentz died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001 in Long Prairie.

She was born Feb. 18, 1917 in Long Prairie to Clement and Ethel (Borman) DuFrene. She grew up and attended school in Long Prairie. She married August Lentz June 27, 1940 in Milbank, SD. She lived on a farm near Long Prairie until she moved to western United States where August worked on dam projects. She returned to Long Prairie and worked at Hart Press from 1955 until 1982. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, its choir and Dorcas Circle. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and working at home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, August on Jan. 29, 2000; her parents; four brothers, Philip, Clement, Kenneth and Harold; and five sisters, Merry, Beatrice, Harriet, Cecile and Laverne.

Survivors include three children, Merlen (Dan) Schandel of Blaine, Roger Lentz of Coon Rapids and Philip (Susan) Lentz of Long Prairie; four brothers and sisters, Donald DuFrene of Hollywood, FL, Phyllis Skelton of Lamberton, Anne Cech of Albuquerque, NM and Frances Severson of Long Prairie; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.11

     Lila Rebischke was born on 19 July 1921 at a farmhouse, near Randall, Morrison County, Minnesota.2,3 On 12 June 1948 Lila Rebischke married Herman Rudolf Schandel, son of Frederick Martin Schandel and Tena Unger, at Zion Lutheran Church, Little Falls, Morrison County, Minnesota.1,2,4 Lila Rebischke died on 29 December 2006 at age 85.3 She died on 30 December 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth, Minnesota, at age 85.2
     Her obituary appeared on 31 December 2006 at the Duluth News Tribune and read as follows:
     "Lila C. Schandel, 85, of Cloquet, died on Dec. 30, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital, Duluth. She was born on July 19, 1921 in a farmhouse near Randall, MN in Morrison County. Lila, the first daughter of Mildred (Shipman) and Armond Rebischke, spent her childhood between Moorhead and Little Falls. She had two younger sisters, Arlene and Donna Mae. Lila graduated from Little Falls High School in 1939 and attended and graduated from Drews Business College in 1940 with secretarial and accountant training. Lila moved to Oregon in 1941 and worked at a bank. She later moved to Hollywood, CA and worked before returning to Little Falls. She worked at St. Cloud State Bank and Minnesota Power and Light Company. In 1948, she married Herman R. Schandel of Little Falls, MN. They soon moved to Cloquet, MN where they lived together for more than 50 years. Lila loved to sew and knit and smiled her way through life. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman in 2002, her infant son Kenneth, her parents, and her sister Donna Mae Sumner. Lila is survived by two sons, Tim and his wife Kim and their daughter Mary of Duluth and Randy and his special friend Shea Meredith of Gladstone, Michigan. She is also survived by her sister Arlene Kristopeit and several nieces and nephews. MEMORIAL VISITATION:1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. memorial service Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2007 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 515 Skyline Blvd, Cloquet.      "Loren R. Plettl, age 39, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died January 4, 2001, at the St. Cloud Hospital.
     "A Mass of Christian Burial was held January 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Rev. Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery.
     "Loren R. Plettl was born December 6, 1961, in Little Falls, MN, the son of Richard and Doris ‘Norberg’ Plettl. He grew up in Little Falls and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1980. Loren attended St. Cloud State for one year. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1981, and worked as an aircraft maintenance crew chief in Dover, DE until his honorable discharge in 1985. Loren then worked at Camp Ripley and also served in the Minnesota National Guard for 12 years. He moved to St. Cloud, MN, and worked at Schmidt Labs and later at Lans Lenses. In 1997, he moved to Pierz, MN, to help care for his stepfather and, in 1999, returned to Little Falls. Loren enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and his cats, especially Tazz.
