Frank Herman Schumacher, Jr., 74, of Goose Creek, SC, a former vice-president of ACMI, died Aug. 24, 2006, at his residence.The funeral was held 3:30 p.m. Aug. 27 in the St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Goose Creek. Pastor Stephen Johnson officiated. Directed by Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Mr. Schumacher was born Sept. 24, 1931, in Hoboken, NJ, a son of Frank H. Schumacher, Sr., and Marie Mosinger Schumacher. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marie S. Proudfoot. Mr. Schumacher served in the US Marine Corps and was a member of the St. Timothy Lutheran Church. He resided with his niece, Kathy Littleton, her husband, Jim, and their daughter, Nicole. In 1983, he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. In spite of this, he was still able to enjoy many more years and was able to lead a full life due to the loving and nurturing care he received from the nurses who dedicated themselves to him. Surviving are a daughter, Tracy Nees and her husband, Steve, of Flemington, NJ; and two grandchildren.

Louse Seagle, formerly of Bonneau Beach and Isle of Palms, SC, died Wed., July 12 2006, in a Virginia Beach nursing home. Mrs. Seagle was born on Oct. 13, 1918 in Alamance County, N.C. to the late Grover Cleveland Younts and the late Mary Hopkins Younts. She was the widow of the late George P. Seagle. The Seagles first resided at the Isle of Palms, South Carolina in 1973, and moved to Bonneau Beach in 1987. Louise continued to live in Bonneau after George's death in 1993 until 2002. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and the First Baptist Church of Bonneau. She is survived by two daughters, Susan S. Boze and husband Fred of Virginia Beach and Joanna S. Rinehart and husband, Richard of Chesapeake; grandchildren Elizabeth Boze of Richmond, Virginia and Joseph Rinehart and wife Dale of Clayton,, N.C.; sister, Ruth Thompson of Burlington, N.C. and half brother, Richard Smith of Reedsville, N.C. Sunday, December 8, 1957, Lake City Tobaccoman Lake City, Dec 7 – (Special) – W. Wesley Singletary, 66, prominent business man and tobacco warehouseman, died at 11:35 this morning after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services will be conducted at three p.m. Monday from the Lake City Baptist Church, by his pastor, the Rev. A. W. Brickle, assisted by the Rev. W. A. Boyd, the Rev. Ross Johnson, the Rev. Morgan Rogers and the Rev. W. E. Abrams of Stuart, Fla. Interment will be in the City Cemetery. Mr. Singletary was born and reared in Florence County, a son of the late Hampton N. and Marinda Ada Courteney. When he was a small child, he was adopted by an uncle, W. J. Singletary. He was educated at Furman University, where he was an outstanding athlete and at Wake Forest, where he studied to be a medical missionary. He was appointed Colonel by both the governor of South Carolina and the governor of Virginia. He was an active member of the Lake City Baptist Church and was president of the Men’s Bible Class for a number of years. He served three terms on the town council and served as mayor of Lake City for one term. He was past president of the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Singletary came to Lake City as cashier of the Farmers and Merchants National Bank and after about two years went into the warehouse business in 1919 and was active until his death. He was president of the South Carolina Border Belt Warehouse Association for twelve consecutive years and during this time he helped to organize the Bright Belt Warehouse Association, which covers all of the flue cured area of tobacco, and was vice president for three consecutive terms. When South Carolina warehousemen formed their own association and withdrew from the Bright Belt Association, he was the first president and also member of the sales committee since its organization. At the time of his death, he was a par[t]ner in Singletary Warehouse, president of the Singletary Gin Company, president of W. Wesley Singletary and Son, Inc., president of the Singletary Fertilizer Company, and was a member of the board of directors and finance committee of the Lake City State Bank. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Spivey Singletary of the home; two sons, W. J. Singletary and Paul S. James M. "Pop" Story, age 68, resident of Pass Christian, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, in Gulfport.Mr. Story was born in Jacksonville, FL and served in the U.S. Navy during Korea and the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He continued serving his country in the civil service as an inspector of war planes until his retirement in 1995. After retirement, he worked for the Diamondhead Country Club and Property Owner's Association and was a member of the 174th Aviation Company.He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Pearl W. Story; daughter, Tommie Jean Bayford; and a brother, Wayne Story. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Margaret "Peggy" Story of Pass Christian; children, Elizabeth Anne Pierce of Turlock, CA, James T. Eloise Parker Coker Sweatman, 74, of Bonneau, SC, died Thursday morning in a North Charleston hospital. The funeral will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, in the Bonneau Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment will follow in the Bonneau Baptist Cemetery. Mrs. Sweatman was born August 24, 1932, in Coward, SC a daughter of George Parnell Parker and Annie Miles Parker. She was a member of the Bonneau Pentecostal Holiness Church where she was an Evangelist and a former Sunday school teacher. She was a charter member and the former treasurer for the Oakley Road Church of God. Mrs. Coker was the former owner of Coker’s Country Crafts, she was a lead singer for the southern gospel group The King's Crusaders, and she was a gospel recording artist. She was the author of the book “Baring My Soul”. She was a seamstress and also a former columnist for the Berkeley Herald. Mrs. Sweatman was the widow of Alfred R. Coker, Sr., and Bob Sweatman. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Wayne Coker, and a daughter, Anne Pickering. Surviving are, two daughters, Allie C. Rich of Moncks Corner and Tammy L. Wicker of Charleston; a son, Rick Coker and his wife, Gail, of Bethera; two brothers, Parnell Parker of Sumter and Irvin “Pete” Parker of James Island; seven grandchildren, Vicki Powers, Kristi Mitchum, Tim Coker, DeAnna Rich, Daniel Rich, Harold Geddings, and Mac Cooper; and three great grandchildren.

Susan Gregory Sweatman, 52, died Aug. 24, 2006, in a Moncks Corner hospital. The funeral was held 5 p.m. Aug. 27 in the Chapel of Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. The Rev. Eddy Knight officiated. Interment followed in the Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery, Jamestown. Mrs. Sweatman was born May 26, 1954, in Elizabeth City, NC, a daughter of Johnny T. Gregory and Bertie Brouthers Gregory. She graduated from North Eastern High School. Mrs. Sweatman loved all her pets, but was especially fond of her cats. Surviving are, her husband, James Franklin Sweatman; a son, James Franklin Sweatman, II of Walterboro; a brother, John Maurice Gregory of Elizabeth City, NC; three sisters in law, Libby Litchfield and her husband David of Macedonia; Eunice Driggers and her husband Bruce and Betty Jo Horrack and her husband Ed all of Moncks Corner; and a brother-in-law, Richard Mitchell of Macedonia.
