Sarah Ganelle Riley Orvin of Moncks Corner, wife of St. Clair Orvin, died July 18, 2006. She was born in Berkeley County on February 4, 1916, and was the daughter of William Henry Smith and Sadie Sanders Smith.Funeral services were held July 21 at 11 a.m. at Parks Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Summerville Cemetery.In addition to her husband, St. Clair Orvin, she is survived by two sons, John W. Riley, Jr. (Cynthia) and Dr. Thomas W. Riley (Patricia), all of Summerville; two stepsons, Baxter Orvin (Betty) of Moncks Corner and Clair Orvin (Cindy) of Pinopolis; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, John Wilbur Riley.She was a former member of Bethany United Methodist Church of Summerville and more recently of the First Presbyterian Church of Moncks Corner. Wilma Wrenn "Nuke" Orvin, 79, of St. Stephen, SC, a retired mender and weaver supervisor for Albany Felt, died July 6, 2006, in a North Charleston hospital.The funeral was held 3 p.m. July 9 in the Chapel of the Dial-Murray Funeral Home, Moncks Corner. Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, St. Stephen. Mrs. Orvin was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Harristown a daughter of James H. Wrenn, Sr., and Wila Mae Wilson Wrenn. She was the former owner and operator of Orvin's Restaurant. Mrs. Orvin was preceded in death by two sons, Butch and Billy Croft and a great grandchild, Kymberly Yarbrough-Wells. Surviving are her husband, Oliver J. Orvin; a daughter, Patsy E. Langley and her husband, Billy, of St. Stephen; a son, Scott F. Yarbrough and his wife, Lynne, of St. Stephen; a brother, Pete Wrenn and his wife, Sandra, of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.Pallbearers were Eddie Brown, John Clark, Nelson Floyd, Bobby Hoffman, Kenny Mitchum, and Johnny Rivers. Honorary pallbearers were Fletcher Barnette and William Guerry.

Joshua Prentiss Overstreet, 22, of Eutawville, SC, a self employed hardwood floor installer, died Friday evening in Berkeley County. The funeral will be 7:00 PM this Monday evening, Oct. 2, 2006, in the CHAPEL OF DIAL-MURRAY FUNERAL HOME, MONCKS CORNER. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:30 PM until the hour of service. Josh was born May 8, 1984, in Charleston, SC, a son of Mary Burrows Overstreet and Donald A. Driggers, Sr. He was a member of the Manning Church of God and attended Palmetto Land Baptist Church, Summerville. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Pete Burrows. Surviving are, his mother of Camden; his father of Ocala, FL; his fiancée, Stacy Pressler of Eutawville; a daughter, Breanna Lynn Overstreet of Eutawville; a son, Jordan Prentiss Overstreet of Eutawville; two sisters, Paula Ramsey and Mindy Rawls both of Camden; two brothers, Donald A. Driggers, Jr., of Summerville and Barry M. Driggers of Bonneau; his grandmother, Ann Burrows of Eutawville; his aunt, Beth Dorman of Moncks Corner; and his uncle, Buddy Burrows.

Vera "Penny" Owens, age 79, of Moncks Corner, S.C., wife of Clyde S. Owens, entered into eternal rest on April 3, 2006, at a local hospital after succumbing to a long illness. Funeral services were held April 6 at 11 a.m. in Carolina Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment followed at Carolina Memorial Park. Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Clyde S. Owens; daughters, Brenda Owens Coward of Goose Creek and Janet Owens of North Charleston; a sister, Susan McClellan of North Charleston; and grandchildren, Cheryl Coward Kubowicz, James "Jody" Coward, Bill Stacy, Erin Coward, Shaun Stacy, and great-grandchild, Ryan Kubowicz. Mrs. Owens, born Jan. 10, 1927, in Barnwell County, S.C., was the daughter of Martin Franklin Grubbs and Maggie Tucker Grubbs. Mrs. Owens was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner. Vera will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched with so much love and wisdom.
