SCHWARTZ, Family

I am trying to find information about my grandparents and great grandparents. My grandfather, Wesley Schwartz, and grandmother Myrtle Totten were born in Shenendoah, Page Co. Iowa. 1875. Wesley's parents were John Schwartz and mother's last name was Nancy. Don't know her given name. I would appreciate any information about the above people. I am at a stand still for information. The vital records of the State don't have the birth records or marriage records for anything until 1880. Can anyone out there help me find information.

SCHWARTZ, Wesley E.

I am trying to find out information about my Grandfather, Wesley E. Schwartz, born in Shenandoah, Page Cty, IA Nov 8, 1875. According to a death certificate his parents were John Schwartz, and Maiden Name of Mother was 'Nancy". I'm not clear if that was meant to be her first or last name.
Wesley married Myrtle Totten, also of Shenandoah, Page County, Iowa. I have not found a record of their marriage, but do have information of her family.
If you can help me find anything on Wesley E. Schwartz, John Schwartz and wife I would really appreciate it.

SAXTON, Francis M.

Searching for information about the family of Francis Marion SAXON/SAXTON. Francis was born in 1833 in Indiana. He married about 1857 to Josephine McKINNON; b. about 1838, IN. Francis and Josephine (McKINNON) SAXTON were in the 1860 census (F.G 841) for Buchanan Twp., (P.O. Memory) Page Co., IA. with their two oldest children:

  • Robert Jack SAXON; b. 1858 IA.
  • William Thomas SAXON; b. 1860 IA.
  • Eliza SAXON b. 1862 in IA.
This family then moved on to Missouri where they had three more children before moving to California about 1872/1873.
Josphine (McKINNON) SAXTONs' two brothers Theophalis. and Robert J. McKINNON also moved to Page county from Indiana with Francis and Josephine. Both of the brothers had children born in Iowa. They also moved to Missouri then on to California.
I need land records to pinpoint just where in Page county these people lived, when they arrived and when they sold out to move to Missouri. I would also like to obtain any infomation about the parents of Francis Marion SAXON or Josephine MCKINNON who may have died in Iowa.

Travis, Hi.
I don't know how, but we may have some sort of connection. My grandmother, Ruth O. Stoops was born 1/26/1897 in Pottawattmie, Council Bluffs, IA, and spent a number of years in Clarinda. Her father was James Robert Stoops (1853 Ind.), mother Katurah Isabell Wright (1867 IA), and there was an Isaac Stoops born about 1838. Ruth had several brothers, Bud, Stan, Jim, (?) Dempsey. Any of these names sound familar? Penny.

Dear Paul (may I call you Paul?),
WOWEE!!!! This is the closest I have come to a birthdate for my paternal grandmothers parents, and boy-oh-boy am I excited!
My grandmother married 3 times, and spent most of her life in Pond Creek, Oklahoma. She did speak of brothers Bud (may have run a radio repair shop in Council Bluffs), Stan (Stoops Express Co), Jin (in Panderson) and Dempsey in Council Bluffs. Most of what I have is through my dads, half-brothers wife (got all that)???
All I have to work from is a birth certificate from the State of Iowa. It begins with Isaac(s) Stoops swearing that he is 59 years of age, and has known the person named below for 47 and 1/2 years, he lives at 2225 south 12th St., Council Bluffs in the County of Pottawattmie, State of Iowa, that the (illegible) Full name of Child Ruth Olive Stoops Place of birth State of Iowa, County of Page, (city, township and street are blank). Female, 6th in birth order, legitimate, date of birth 1/6/1897 delivered by Dr Paarriott. Father: James Robert Stoops, born in Indiana, color white, age 44, a farmer Mother: Katurah Isabell Wright, born Iowa, color white, age 30, housewife
Then gives a statement that I am his (can't read) and was in the home when the child was born. Signed Isaac M.(May be H.) Stoops, brother. State of Iowa, Pottawattmie county on this 7th day of Sept. 1944. Then signed by the Director. Division of Vital Statisitcs
Do you have any other children attached to this couple? Is Summitt Cemetary in Iowa? If so, near what town?
I calculate that your James Robert Stoops would have been the correct age at the time of birth of Ruth, and her mother certainly could have been "Bell"!
I'm so psyched! (Not a bad thing).
My father has been looking for information on his mother since she died in 1978. He is now almost 80 years old, and rather frail. It would be wonderful if this were the right connection!
I can supply names of the three husbands, children, etc.
What are your thoughts on this matter? Do you think it's that same?
I feel like I'm babbleing I'm so excited. Please get back to me when you can! Thank You, Penny (Grotts) Isenmann, E-Mail: [email protected]

This is a wonderful website! Thank you. My interest is in the Hadden and Stoops families. I found the family information on the Stoops, but when I clicked on the Hadden name the "URL not found" message came up. Can you help me?
Also, I think I have found the 2nd son of Isaac and Mary Haddan Stoops who moved to Arkansas. Robert K. Stoops and his wife, Sarah are buried in Benton County, AR. Sarah is the daughter of William Haddan, who is Mary Haddan Stoops brother. My information on this is not iron-clad, but pretty good.
Again, thank you for a very informative and attractive website.

Try looking in the 1850 US Census for Putnam Co, IN. Look for Isaac and Mary Hadden Stoops. Good luck.

SWALLEY, John

I'm trying to find more information about my great grandfather. His name was John Swalley. His Daughter Blanche Oral Swalley was my grandmother. Blanche married Charles Wesley Dukeshier. They lived in Essex, Iowa. There are several Swalley's in the Essex cemetary, but not John. John lived in Chester Nebraska, when Blanche was born. but I have been unable to find anything there. Blanche died about 1959, in Essex, Iowa, and is buried there. John Swalley was married to Dorinda Hall. Dorinda Hall was from around the Page County area also. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Thanks sincerely,
Michael Dukeshier
