John Calhoun was president of Amity College in early 1900's and his daughter Ethel was my grandmother. She married I. Lowrey who was a student along with his two sisters Edna and Vida. My gf and gm homesteaded to Idaho in early 1900's. The sisters became missionary teachers in mainland China and led very fascinating lives. I have little info on them at this time in their lives and hope you could help put me in the right direction. Seeking information on my maternal grandmother, Betty Carpenter. According to my mother's birth certificate, Betty was born between 10/1903 and 10/1904 in Northboro, Iowa. I have been unable to locate any information on her. She may also have gone by the name of "Aslee" or any variation thereof. I am trying to find out her true name. SAMUEL T. CARTER was born in Morgan County, MO 1853, His parents were John W. Carter and Sarah Campbell. He imigrated to Page County, Iowa and is shown living with his older brother James in the 1880 census. Lost track of Samuel after that. James moved on to Cambridge, Nebraska but I do not find Samuel there.

Looking for descendants of the CLARK family who settled near Blanchard, Colfax Township in the late 1870's. Isaac and Eleanor Clark are my 3rd great-grandparents, son Thomas and Sarah Elizabeth Dixon Clark are my 2nd great-grandparents (they are buried in the Blanchard Cemetery, son Henry Edwin and Ida Adell McIntyre Clark are my great-grandparents (also at the Blanchard cemetery). The families alternated between their farms across the state line in Atchison Co., MO and "city life" in Blanchard.

I have searched all online as well as government records only finding marrige records of her mother and father in Decatur county, Iowa. Orson died 25 Dec 1877 in Shenandoah, Page Co. Iowa. Orson's daughter Lora Cole married Robert Given BERRY on 16 Dec 1896 in Shenandoah. They had two children Cole A. BERRY and Robert BERRY. Cole was born in 1901 in Shenandoah and died 1974 in Des Moines, Iowa He had three children who were raised in Shenandoah- Margaret BERRY (b. Abt 1926); Roberta BERRY and William BERRY born abt 1936. Robert BERRY moved to Illinois and was a banker. Orson's son Henry O. COLE was born 6 Apr 1874 in Shenandoah, Iowa and married Lulu Mae GOOD in Sidney, Fremont County, Iowa He had two known daughters- Lena who married Charles HELM in Peru, Nemaha Co. When do you think a link into Page County will be established?
I am looking for a birth certificate &/or baptismal certificate from Shambaugh, Page county for Luella, born abt.1875 and Stella, born 8 December 1877, my grandmother. Their parents are Frank and Melinda Constant. They may have been Catholic at that time, but the family history seems to indicate that other family members married into other faiths, which may be the case with Frank and Melinda. I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

Ima is my ggrandmother she has a very colorful past.... first married a Miller (unk first name), slept with 1st husbands cousin and got pregnant the cousins name is William Miller, she divorced her first husband and at age 19y on 01 Jan. 1915, Page Co., IA. she married 2) the 24 year old Harvey Ellsworth Couts, there first son was

  • 1. Son: Clifford Lee Couts (real last name Miller) dob, April 19th 1914 he was given the Couts name at birth. Clifford is my grandfather, there was also born to Ima and Harvey several other kids,
  • 2. Son: John Ellsworth dob Jan 14, 1916,
  • 3. Dau: Isabell dob May 15, 1918,
  • 4. Dau: Juanita,
  • 5. Dau: Phyllis, and
  • 6. Dau: Elnora.
All of these people were born in Page Co, City of Clarinda Iowa. I believe that Ima died there as well. I am really trying to find out about all of these people but especially the Miller side of it any help would be GREAT thanks you Meri

There is a possiblity my grandmother, born Page Co 1859, reared Nodaway Co MO, located in Seneca area (Nemaha Co) KS in the 1880s, daughter of John Franklin Cox Jr and Melinda ("Milley") Turner, married first to Edward B. Downey (aka C. E. Bruce) 1875 and secondly to William Hercules Ryan in 1877, was returned for burial in Page County. Her name was Martha Jane Cox aka Jennie E. Cox. I am searching for information about my Cutter relatives. My mother, Carolyn Laurabell (sp?) Cutter, was born in Shenanndoah, Iowa around 1920. Her mother was Gladys Bond(sp?)Gaston-Cutter, and her father was John Syndey Cutter. I don't know very much beyond this. I think my Grandfather's family was from Page County, or a near by. The family lived in Shenendoah for many years.
