newspaper article on murder of John M. Williamson

Blinded, Mangled By Blast, Texan Crawls to Death

Nacogdoches, Tex., Oct. 8 -
Crawling through the woods and calling for help although both his arms had been torn off at the elbows and both his eyes had been put out by an exploding dynamite cartridge, John M. Williamson, 73, finally got help, but not in time to save his life. He died Saturday night on an operating table at Cushing.

Williamson was several miles from his home at Cushing, 25 miles west of here, when the dynamite cartridge exploded. He crawled through the underbrush and shouted for help until a passerby heard him and took him to a Cushing surgeon.

He is survived by his widow and several children.
