     James Todd? was born on 18 August 1833 at Parish of Arbirlot, Forfarshire, Scotland. According to the Arbirlot parish register, "James Todd Goat of Carmylie and Isobel Myles in this parish had a son born this day named James."1

     Ethel Marie Reynolds was born on 11 November 1896.4 She was also reported to have been born on 14 November 1896 at Concord, Minnesota.3 She was also reported to have been born on 14 November 1897 at Concord, Minnesota.1,5 On 12 April 1916 Ethel Marie Reynolds married David Vannet Pender, son of James Pender and Mary Thomson, at Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, Minnesota.1 Ethel Marie Reynolds and David Vannet Pender were also reported married in 1916 at Staples, Todd County, Minnesota.4 Ethel and David Vannet Pender farmed near Downer and in Skree township.1,6 Ethel Marie Reynolds died on 10 December 1935 at Clay County, Minnesota, at age 38.7,8 She was also reported to have died on 15 December 1936.4,9 She was buried at Elkton Cemetery, Clay County, Minnesota.3

     Evelyn Elaine Pender was born on 2 September 1917 at 1414 6th St. SE, Staples, Todd County, Minnesota.1,2,3,4,5,6 On 16 April 1938 Evelyn Elaine Pender married Clifford Valdmar Wamre, son of Hans Wamre, at the Congregational parsonage, Glyndon, Clay County, Minnesota. Rev. Charles Pobanz officiated.1,7,6 Evelyn and Clifford Valdmar Wamre farmed at Scree Township, Clay County, Minnesota.1 Evelyn Elaine Pender died on 23 November 2007 at MeritCare Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota, at age 90.4,5,6
     Her obituary appeared and read as follows:
     "Evelyn Elaine Wamre was born September 2, 1917, in Staples, MN, to David and Ethel (Reynolds) Pender. The family moved to the Downer, MN, area where Evelyn was raised and received her education. Evelyn played an important part in helping raise her two brothers and four sisters, following the death of their mother. Evelyn was a very loving person and was like a mother to many people.

Evelyn was united in marriage to Clifford Valdmar Wamre on April 16, 1938, in Glyndon, MN. They lived and farmed south of Hawley, MN, until they moved to Moorhead, MN, in January of 1958. Clifford died August 23, 1999.

Evelyn volunteered many hours at the VA Hospital in Fargo. She also did baby-sitting and did foster-care for many children. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.

Evelyn died Friday, November 23, 2007, in MeritCare Hospital Palliative Care Unit, at ninety years of age.

She is survived by her four children, Jim (Sophie) Wamre, Violet (Clark) Lien, Diane (David) Henry, and Larry (Sue Menke) Wamre; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Betty Stone, Gloria (Wil) Pechtel, and Eleanor (Jerry) Funk.

In addition to her husband, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Violet Pender; and two brothers, Ellis and David Pender.

Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead."6

She was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Moorhead, Clay County, Minnesota.6

     Betty Jean Pender was born on 29 July 1923.1 On 24 December 1942 Betty Jean Pender married Robert Reuben Stone, son of Earl Stone, at Seattle, King County, Washington. Dr. Newton Moats officiated. Anthony J.      David Vannet Pender Jr. was born on 25 August 1924 at Barnesville, Clay County, Minnesota.1,2,3,4 He graduated in 1942 from Hawley High School, Clay County, Minnesota.5,6 On 15 September 1947 David Vannet Pender Jr. married Olga Horning, daughter of Adolph Horning and Magdelena Thielman or Thielmann, at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Zap, North Dakota.1,7,6 David Vannet Pender Jr. was a pallbearer at the funeral for Charles Lamb at the First Presbyterian Church, Downer, Clay County, Minnesota.8 David Vannet Pender Jr. was mentioned in the obituary of Charles Lamb on 20 May 1960.8 David Vannet Pender Jr. died on 15 November 2004 at MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota, at age 80.6,3,4
     His obituary appeared on 18 November 2004 at the Forum, Fargo, Cass County, North Dakota, and read as follows:
     "David Vannett Pender, 80, of Hawley, Minnesota, was called home to our Heavenly Father, Monday, November 15, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.
David Vannett Pender was born August 25, 1924, at Baker, Minnesota, to David V. and Ethel (Reynolds) Pender. He grew up and attended school in Hawley, graduating from Hawley High School. He attended NDAC (currently NDSU) where he played football his first year. He was also a great boxer and became a Golden Gloves State Champion. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1942 and fought in World War II. He served four years. On September 15, 1947, David united in marriage with Olga Horning in Zap, North Dakota. Following their marriage they farmed near Hawley, MN. Often he commented about his love for the farm land. David was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He was baptized and confirmed in the church. He was an active member of Salem Lutheran Church, the American Legion, VFW, 4-H Clubs and Farmers Union.
David is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Olga, son, David “Davy”, grandchild, Franklin, great-grandchild, Joshua, brother, Ellis “Bud”, and sister, Violet.
He is survived by five children, Loretta Baston, Arlington, TX, Wayne (Renee) Pender, Grand Rapids, MN, Gregory Pender, Twin Valley, MN, Linda (Robert) Kordosky, Birchwood, MN, and Gwendolyn (Jeff) Fisher, Jacksonville, FL; four sisters, Evelyn Wamre, Moorhead, MN, Betty Stone, Fargo, ND, Gloria (Willard) Pechtel, Fargo, ND, and Eleanor (Jerry) Funk, Minneapolis, MN; fifteen grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren.
Visitation: Friday, November 19, 2004, 5:00-7:00 PM, with a 7:00 PM prayer service, Wright Funeral Home, Vigen Chapel, Hawley, Minnesota, also visitation one hour before services in the church.
Funeral service: Saturday, November 20, 2004, 10:30 AM, Salem Lutheran Church, Hitterdal, Minnesota.

They were married by H.W. Irene (Worsley) Lundsten, 93, of Hawley, MN, passed away on Thursday, June 24, 2021, in Viking Manor, Ulen, MN.

Irene was born on December 3, 1927, to Henry and Ida (Peters) Worsley in Hunter, ND. She attended and graduated from Hunter High School and went on to attend Valley City Trade College. After her schooling, she began teaching country school in Hunter, ND. She later moved to Valley City where she worked as a waitress. There, she met Arnold Lundsten and they were married on August 18, 1951, in Valley City. They later moved to Hawley, MN, where they raised their 8 children.

Irene was an avid reader of many books, a crossword puzzle wizard, and a lover of dogs.

Irene is survived by her children, Lance (Karen) Lundsten, Jeff Lundsten, Sheryl Springer, Lynne (Jerry) Sander, Randy Lundsten, Alan (Rina) Lundsten, Phil (Becky) Lundsten, and Valerie Lundsten; 16 grandchldren; many great and great-great grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold; parents, Henry and Ida; son, baby Lundsten; daughter-in-law, Debbie Lundsten; brothers, Craig and Lynn; and sisters, Marjorie and Jean.

Visitation will be from noon-1:00 P.M., followed by the memorial service at 1:00 P.M., Friday, July 9th, 2021, at Wright Funeral Home, Hawley, MN. A livestream of the service will be available on Irene's webpage at www.wrightfuneral.com where a guestbook and video tribute may also be found. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date.
