Eleanor Ching was born on 4 March 1826.1 On 18 February 1850 Eleanor Ching married Walter Cook at District of Stoke Daml, Devon, England. The marriage is listed for March in Free BMD.1,2 Eleanor Ching was also reported to have died on 30 June 1910 at Clay County, Minnesota.3 She died on 7 July 1910 at Clay County, Minnesota, at age 84.1,4,5,6
Her obituary appeared on 14 July 1910 at Barnesville, Clay County, Minnesota, and read as follows:
     "Mrs. Walter Cook Sr
Passed Away July 7
Death Comes Peacefully After a Lingering Illness--Due to Old Age
Funeral From the Home

Mrs. Walter Cook, Sr., whose death occured Thursday morning July 7th, at eight o'clock, is well known through-out this vicinity.
Death came as a result of old age and was a gradual weakening until the end, which was very peaceful.
Eleanor Ching Cook, was born in Devonshire, England, March , 1826. She was married to Walter Cook in 1860, and with her husband immigrated to Canada in 1855. They then resided in Clinton, Ontario, for twenty-five years, coming to their present home in Elmwood township in 1883. Mr. Cook took up a homestead, and here on the prairie, he and Mrs. Cook started to build up a home. There were many years of hardship, poor crops and illness, but through it all, 'Grandma Cook' as she was familiarly called, became well known for her garden, her flowers and her ever cheerful disposition.
Nine children were born to bless the union, seven of whom are living and with the husband Walter Cook, Sr., mourn the loss of 'Mother'. They are: W. A. Cook, Flint, Michigan; Mrs. S. Hagen, Edmonton, Alberta; Mrs. Henry Draper, Barnesville, Minn; Mrs. Carrie Dresser, Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Martin Jones, Walter Cook, Jr., and Mrs. I. Henry all of Baker, Minn.
There are also forty-two grand-children and 11 great grand children. For almost sixty years this couple walked the path of life together and when Mrs. Cook became ill he watched over her with a lovers care. Now, when he must resume the journey alone, it will be the pleasant duty of the family andfriends, to make his years happy, strewing the path with flowers until the great call comes for him and he shall be with his beloved wife again.
Mrs. Cook has been a helpless invalid during the past two years and has been constantly cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Dresser.
The funeral was held at the Elmwood home, Friday, July 8th. The Rev. Mr. Latchaw of the Presbyterian church in Baker, of which she was a member, officiated. The remains were followed to the Elmwood cemetery by a long procession of relatives and neighbors.
In the death of Mrs. Cook, Clay Co. loses one of its early settlers and a woamn whose sincerity and kindly influence will long be remembered and treasured in the neighborhood."7

James Forrest Lamb, born in Logie Pert in 1898.
Mary Isabella Lamb, born in St Cyrus, Kincardineshire, in 1899.
Agnes Middleton Lamb, born in Montrose in 1909. The census shows a John Lamb, 39, living in Montrose in 1911, in the same household as someone named Agnes, but weirdly, it does not show an Agnes Lamb between the ages of 35 and 45 living in Montrose in the same household as someone named John. What it does show is a two-year-old named Agnes Lamb living in Montrose with someone named John. So, it looks like they had at least one more kid than we can see in the 1901 census, while apparently, Agnes (Middleton) Lamb was somewhere else the day of the 1911 census. One John Lamb died in Montrose in 1912 at the age of 40.4
