Welcome to my Genealogy Home Page.
I believe that content is of greater import to the researcher
than unnecessary glitz, so graphics, clip-art, and fancy techniques
have been held
to the absolute minimum until I get a significant amount of content up
on this page.
My main research interests are threefold:
I descend from Moses ROOT, who was the second settler of Orleans County in 1804.
About 1850, a sizable number of people migrated from eastern Norfolk to Orleans County. I also descend from several of these families, including the PLATTEN, DYBALL, RUDD, SALMON, TURNER, and allied families.
My secondary interests include:
Several of my lines lead through Connecticut, including several of the first settlers of Hartford and Wethersfield. Through these, I am directly related to 11 US presidents and by marriage to 2 more. Of special interest is:
These pages contain many gems regarding the family of John LOVELAND, Lord Mayor of Norwich, Norfolk, England. Thomas LOVELAND, John's son and my ancestor, embarked for Connecticut, but died in passage. His widow, the former Elizabeth Busfield, and their children arrived in Hartford in 1638. From this family descend many of the Loveland families in the USA. Mr. Howard, who decends from a different Loveland family, has accumulated a significant body of work on the John Loveland family. With his help, I rescued these pages before his his website in England expired.
Meet our family.
