Her donation of 1657, as recorded in the Registre d'Insinuations, B-21, p. 275 ff., is, unfortunately, nearly illegible. The original, if we have deciphered the document correctly, was recorded by Etienne Rioufol. The most important point is that it refers to the testament of Jean Nouvene of 1617, a document that has so far not surfaced in its original form. What has been deciphered so far simply donates the bulk of Isabeau's estate to her niece Jeanne, reserving living expenses for the rest of her life and an additional 60 Livres to dispose of as she pleases. Apart from Isabeau's late brother Jaques, no other family members are mentioned or even implied.

The earliest mention of this family located so far is a marriage dated 09 mar 1590 between Jean Faure dict Bertand from Silhac to Magdaleyne Novenche, daughter of Guilhaume Novenc of the same place, represented by her mother Catherine du Chaux and a Jean Novenc, relationship not clearly stated (Registre d'Insinuations B-1, p. 61). Reference to the testament of Jean Nouvene, father of Isabeau and Jaques, is contained in a donation of Isabeau to her niece, 28 apr 1657 (Registre d'Insinuations B-21, p 275 ff.). This donation, very close to being illegible due to an extremely sloppy hand of the notary Mondon L�orat, gives the date of the testament of Jean Nouvene as 04 feb 1617, recorded by (if we have deciphered his name correctly) Mr. Ysac Mercier. From this date, we realize that Guilhaume Novenc could plausibly be the father of Jean.
Spelling of the surname varies: Nouenc, Nouuene... (these should probably be interpreted as Novenc and Nouvene, respectively, since U and V are usually indistinguishable in the script of the period) but in no case have we yet located a definitive version (such as a signature). Jeanne was the niece of an Isabeau Nouvene who made a donation to her in 1657 (Registres d'Insinuation B-21, p. 275), mentioning various family members.
It is possible that the name is equivalent to La Nove, but the existence of one citation using the spellings Nouvenc (referring to a male) and Nouvenche (referring to a female, in the same document) suggests that the C is an authentic part of the name. We have been unable to find other instances of this surname under any of these spellings.
