Harry R. Jordan compiled two books that listed the tombstone inscriptions of all known cemeteries in Gloucester County, Virginia.  The first book, entitled, Cemeteries of Lower Gloucester County, Virginia, was published in 1995.  The second book entitled, More Cemeteries of Gloucester County, Virginia, was published in 1996.  Mr. Jordan formatted the inscription to match the style of each tombstone.  The copyrights of both books belong to the Gloucester County Friends of the Museum.  The data from these books that is presented on this site is for the convenience of computer-user researchers.  However, every serious Gloucester Genealogist should own a copy of these reference books.  They have an attractive, hardcover binding.  They can be purchased from the gift shop of the Gloucester Museum of History or by mail order from their website.  We appreciate the generosity the Gloucester County Friends in allowing us to publish this data compiled by Mr. Jordan.
