  • James Brower is claimed as a son of a son Brouwer as suggested by William A.D. Eardeley in his 1923 manuscript, "Brower Genealogy and Langdon Genealogy." Eardeley places James as a son of the unnamed son mentioned in the will of Jan Brouwer. Eardeley states that he can find no place for James among the children of brothers John and Dirck Brewer of Hempstead, Long Island. He further reasons that this unnamed son could be a Jacob Brewer who is found in Nova Scotia, an evacuee from New York after the Revolution.
There is no evidence to link the Jacob Brewer of Nova Scotia to this family. There is also no evidence, yet found, as to who the unnamed son is, or if he survived childhood. James Brower may well be a son of Dirck Brower (son of Jan Brouwer and Aege Sprong).
