Brower) his heirs and assigns are to have the privilage of going to and from the same through bars and gates the same as the party of the first part, the part is to have the right to all the loose stone from said lot with the exception of the stone the party of the second part shall use to build his house, they are to be what is called rubbish stone, it is hereby understood that Henry Lawson is to have the right to quarry the stone in his quarry where he now quarries and one pine tree is reserve by the party of the first part.6

  • He was the author of Danville Past and Present (1881) which has been reprinted by the Montour County (Pa.) Historical Society. D.H.B. Brower was educated as a medical doctor, and was said to have been a practicing physician in Butler Co., Pa. in 1838. There he entered the newspaper business with the establishment of the Prospect Record. He also served in the Pennsylvania Legislature in 1849 as a representative of Butler County. He moved to Danville (Montour Co.) in 1855. Several of his children followed careers in journalism. His obituary appeared in the Montour American, a paper that he founded, at Danville. In 1864 he established the State Journal at Harrisburg; in 1876 the Record, at Danville, and later the News, at the same place. He was elected a member of the State Legislature in 1850 and served two terms.1
