Summary: The Carrow family has been in the Chesapeake Bay area since 1643, specifically Accomac Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and North Carolina since 1663. They most likely came from North Ireland and prior to that in LochCaron Scotland. They were said to be chieftans of Ireland in the Clan Donald or Mac Donald who fled after the beginning of the Civil Wars.

A John Carrow is in Accomack VA before 1643 and what appears to be a second generation is also there in 1663-6. The next generation is in Dorchester,Somerset , Queen Anne MD and Kent County Delaware ( the Northern family)in the 1670-80s, or mainly in the same locales but County boundaries change. The North Carolina branch may also actually "stay put" in Currituck,Hyde and Beaufort NC while the boundaries change around them.

These relationships are hard to prove and are "strong probables" derived by linking individuals with court records, tax rolls and wills.

Another commonality is that 3 or more of the second generation serve in public office as Sheriff or Constable and are literate.
