Sarah Louella Rich, 91 of Palestine, IL, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN, Saturday, December 25, 2004. She was born May 18, 1913 in rural Palestine, the daughter of William W. Schifler and Sarah Partridge Schifler.
She served in the WAC's during WWII and was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69. She also had worked as a clerk in the grocery business.
She married Fred A. Rich on November 11, 1948 and he survives. She is also survived by 2 step daughters, Constance Giamanco, Las Vegas, NV and Beverly Holquist, Scottsdale, AZ; her sister, Mildred Clemons, Cass City, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents: 4 sisters, Elsie Fuller, Marie Lockhart, Ruth Kley, Edna McCoy, and Dorothy Magill; 3 brothers, Glenn Schifler, Willis Schifler, and Harold "Bob" Schifler; and her step daughter, Erin.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 29th at 11:00 a. m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. Ron and Rev. Esther Pfeifer are in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday prior to the service.
