The oil field museum is located at the 4-H fairgrounds on the east side of Oblong, just off Illinois Rt. 33. This is a museum of machinery used in the extensive oil industry that sprang up in Crawford and surrounding counties during the early 1900s. Visitors will find large oil rigs, motors, and a multitude of other equipment both inside the vast building, and also outside on the grounds. Along with the machinery used in the oil field there are early pictures, articles, and other paraphernalia found at the museum.

Note: The Hutson Cabin, Oblong Oil Field and local school photos were taken by Warren Jennings in August 1999. A special thank you to Warren for his time and effort.
