Mary V. Helm, 83, of rural Oblong, IL, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, IL. She was born July 7, 1923 in Oblong, the daughter of Chester A. Buck and Lela G. Way Buck.

She was a homemaker and had managed J's Laundry in Robinson for several years. She graduated from Oblong High School in the Class of 1940; was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Oblong, and was a member of the Modern Woodmen Lodge #463.

She married John A. Helm May 1, 1948 and he survives. She is also survived by her daughter, Rita Helm, St. Louis, and her son, Todd Helm, Oblong, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter-in-law, Janice L. Helm on September 2, 1993.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2007 at the Central United Methodist Church, Oblong with Rev. Tommy Brewer officiating. Burial will in the Oblong City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 noon to service time at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the church preceding the services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to charity of the donor's choice.
