William Harlan "Bill" Correll, 79 of Robinson, IL, died at 9:20 p.m. November 23, 2005 at Kindren Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He was born June 4, 1926 in Stoy, IL the son of Ira and Belva (McCord) Correll.

He had been employed by R. T. I. as a dispatcher in Indianapolis for over 30 years. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was wounded in Hanover, Germany in 1945. He was a member and Past Commander of the Robinson and the Oblong American Legion posts. He was President of the Robinson Baseball Association and coached Pee Wee and Little League Baseball teams. He was a member of the Oblong City Masonic Lodge and had been Worthy Patron of the Oblong Eastern Star. He was a member, past Secretary, and past President of the Crawford County Shrine Club; a member of the Danville Consistory; the Ainad Shrine of East St. Louis; and a member of the Crawford County Clowns (Wheeling Willie). He was a member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549 and was the Quartermaster of that organization. Bill was also a member of the Oblong American Legion Drum and Bugle Corps. He was an original member of the National Wheel Chair Basketball team. He was a member and past President of the Robinson Jaycees. He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ and had attended the Bible Chapel Church for over 40 years.

Bill married Carolyn Warters on August 28, 1949 and she survives. He is also survived by his son Garry Correll Robinson; 5 grandchildren and their spouses, Jeremy and Kelli Correll, Robinson, Duaine and Karla Correll, Robinson, Suzanne and Jason Garrard, Oblong, Brandy and Rick Lawhead, West York, Jamie and Kaleb Swick, Robinson; 4 great grandchildren, Katey Correll, Christopher Correll, Shaley Correll, and Deacon Correll; his daughter-in-law, Karen Correll, Porterville; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Clair and Shirley Correll, Robinson, Jerry and Mary Correll, Robinson, Jim and Susan Correll, Springfield; his sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Larry Smith, Oblong, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jerry Correll; and 2 brothers, Ellis and Merle Correll; his grandson, Michael Paul Correll; and his daughter-in-law, Kathryn Correll.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the Oblong Cemetery with Pete Mitchell officiating. The Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Palestine AmVets Post #33, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132 are in charge of military graveside services. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson, IL. is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
