Ruth A. Baker 88 Oblong died Sunday July 14, 2002 at Ridgeview Care Center, . Ruth was born August 2, 1913 in Crawford County, Illinois and was the daughter of L. B. Wiman and Susannah (Payne) Wiman. In 1959, she married L. H. Baker who died on May 5, 1966. Ruth worked as an operator for Coil Sales in Oblong and then in Marshall, IL. She was a member of the Bellair Church of Christ, Friendly Neighbors Club and Ruth loved to work with crafts and being with her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by 3 sons and daughter-in-laws Max and Doris Elliott, Larry Baker and Charles and Donna Baker; 3 daughters and sons-in-laws Janet & Ocie Smith, Jo Flairty and Martha & Don Lewis; 24 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren and 1 brother and sister-in-law Clell & Blanche Wiman. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Her parents, husband, 1 brother Elza Wiman, 1 sister Amber Henry and 2 granddaughters Mindy Flairty and Connie Elliott precede Ruth in death.
Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery northwest of Oblong.
