Title: Two Teens in the Time of Austen
 Author/Researcher: Kelly M. McDonald
 URL: http://smithandgosling.wordpress.com/the-author/
Comments: During her research, the author located a number of Chute Family and allied family member portraits and silouettes. She is apparently researching two Jane Austen-era women (as teenagers): Emma Smith and Mary Gosling. Emma would have been the niece of Elizabeth Smith Chute, wife of William John Chute, M.P. While she cited Chaloner William Chute's A History of the Vyne in Hampshire (1888) as a source for her research, her request for contact on further information extends only to the "Goslings of Roehampton Grove, the Goslings of Hassobury (Essex), their family banking firm (Goslings and Sharpe) on Fleet Street, London; or about the Smiths of Suttons (Essex), or their extended family the Comptons of Northampton; the Sir Francis Goslings; the Greggs and Davisons; the Seymours, Curries, Christies and Wilders." As she didn't seem to want or need further information on the extended Chute Family - and we think Francis Chute would have been a stellar source of information, quite truthfully - we simply lifted our Jane-Austenish noses in the air, sniffed loudly in disdain and helped ourselves to her .jpegs.

Record Type: Heraldric Register of the Chutes (BCHR)
Description: 17th century parchment scroll, commissioned by Sir George Chute, Baronet, of Bethersden, England in 1698.
Repository: Hampshire Record Office in Winchester, England
Photographs: Courtesy of Francis Chute, Arundel, Great Britain
Comments: The BCHR (for Bethersden Chute Heraldric Roll) is useful for identifying members of the Bethersden branch of the Chute family, but is less accurate for identifying Chutes of earlier or later periods, as there are several known errors, and it appears to have been commissioned in preparation for George Chute of that line being made a Baronet. Nonetheless, we've assumed that the general outline of names and dates were pulled from a known family history or from existing records, even if some details and biographical information of several individuals were invented. Until we find compelling reasons to eliminate or alter information from this source, they will remain as documented.

 Title: Turtle Bunbury.com
Section: "Heroes and Villians: Bill Harrington, 11th Earl of Harrington (1922-2009)"
Summary of Section: "When it comes to countries with a history of colourful characters, it's hard to beat Ireland. The influence of the Irish race on mankind has been a phenomenon since the first cassock-clad monks headed off to spread the Gospel in the dark forests of Barbarian Europe. And that was just the start of it. Here Turtle resurrects some of the more unusual and enigmatic children of Ireland to have emerged during his time travels, incorporating men and women of Irish origin who made an impact on the wider world."

 URL:  http://www.turtlebunbury.com/history/history_heroes/hist_hero_harrington.htm
Additional Comments: This is actually quite an interesting site. Only problem I have with it is author Turtle Bunbury's claim that his approach to Family History (he can be commissioned to write a family history placing the history of his clients' families within a wider historical context) is "an innovative concept in family history" - a claim with which - as we glance at our family's written histories from Chaloner Chute of the Vyne and William Edward Chute's Chute Genealogies of the 19th century through Francis Chute's Chutes of the Vyne and this website - the Chute family would strongly beg to differ - as we've been doing that for centuries. Be that as it may, he does have a wonderful article written up on Ann Theodora Chute's husband, the 11th Earl of Harrington, which includes his as yet unverified claim that he personally arrested Grand Admiral Karl Doenitz, who inherited the Third Reich from Adolph Hitler himself. Bunbury has written about quite a number of Irish families, but has not yet ventured into Kerry - yet. From County Limerick, he provided more genealogical information on the Chutes related directly to Lord Harrington, which was very much appreciated.

1I am not sure who was born in "New York". The Hillary's who raised him appeared to have originated in Maryland. Benjamin Franklin was born in Minnesota. One remaining possibility is Hannah Nielsen, whose birth data is unknown at this time. Another possibility is that he invented "New York" because he had no idea where his actual parents were born.
