Santa Cruz Sentinel, 10 dec 1964: Divorces filed: Victor: December 8, Susanne E. from Richard J. Victor, extreme cruelty. Notice of a summons to appear in the Superior Court of Santa Cruz County was published March 3, 10, 17, and 24, 1965, interlocutory decree April 23 for divorce. Did she remarry? Who raised the children, and how many were there? A birth announcement for their daughter Laura Ellen was published in the Santa Cruz Sentinel 29 nov 1959, indicating that she was their fourth child.
Susanne was a former Navy nurse.
A obituary notices appeared in the Hudson Post (Hudson, Lenawee Co., Michigan) on October 14 and 21, 1887. The one from October 21 contains many details (this is a transcript typed on file cards, likely abridged; the original has not been examined): "Born in Windom, Vt., Mar. 19, 1805. Father died when he was quite young, leaving his mother with 2 small childrem. He, being the older, was bound out until he was 21. Many times tried to get away, but succeeded when he was 17. Salied on Lake Champlain for 2 years, ran a state from Albany to Buffalo. In a few years came west to Maumee, Ohio. Bought a pony and rode as far as Bean Creek in spring of 1835, selected a farm southeast of Hudson, came back to Maumee to work by month until fall of 1837, when he came back to Mich. April 8, 1838, he married Miss Harriet Trumbull '(At Maumee, I think)' and two days after took his bride, oxen, and wagon and started for his new home. His aged mother came after a few years and lived with him until she died in 1850. Stayed on farm until 1878 when he moved to Hudson. Had 6 children, 3 sons and 3 daughters. One son died in last war, one in Missouri, one in Northern Michigan. Daughters live near Hudson. Leaves one brother in eastern New York. 'This is an interesting obit'."

While his date of birth is given explicitly in a biographical sketch of his son James T. Alverson, History of Knox County, Ohio, Its Past and Present (1881), p. 852, the age at death quoted in the same publication yields a computed birth date of 20 mar 1807, a discrepancy of one day. It may be that one or the other figure involves "inclusive counting". However, we did not find this family in the records of Guilford, Vermont, and the parentage given in a tree on FamilySearch.org does not match the required parentage. As expected from this story, his burial is indeed found in the White Church Cemetery, Crown Point, New York, with the listed dates, the only Alverson in that very well preserved cemetery.
In fact, the Alverson extended family (families of David Jr., James, William, William, Thomas, and John) are found in the 1810 census of Halifax, Windham Co., Vermont. However, the marriage itself, Mr. Thomas Alverson to Miss Faney Wells, both of Guilford is registered at Guilford, 14 oct 1804, officiated by William Bigelow, Justice of the Peace (Guilford Town and Vital Records, volume A, 1770-1808, FHL microfilm #0028291, p. 11). This suggests that there might have been additional confusion in the Haven genealogy. However, from the available evidence, including the published history of the present Thomas Alverson, the gravestone of Fanny Russell "mother of O. Wells Alverson", the Nathaniel Haven family bible record, and the testimony of the relatives who supplied the information in the Haven genealogy, it seems clear that "Faney Wells" is an error, the record should have said "Fanny Wells Snider", or possibly "Fanny Wells Haven", if she was considered to have been adopted.
