Emily has borne 9 children, all of whom are living.⁸ In 1915 Theodore Augustus Yelton lived in Oklahoma.⁹ He was listed as the head of a household in the 1920 Census of Harper, Harper County, Kansas. The family included his wife, Emily C. Yelton, age 63, his sons, William E. Yelton, age 31 and Chester C. Yelton, age 22.¹⁰

Theodore Augustus Yelton died on 13 June 1927 at Harper, Kansas. An obituary in the Falmouth Outlook stated: At his home in Harper Kansas on June 13th, Theodore Yelton passed peacefully away after two years illness; aged 83 years. He was the oldest child of the late Elijah and Lauthania Yelton. He leaves a wife and several children; one sister Mrs F. M. McClure, Shelbyville, Ky and Thomas and James C. Yelton of Butler. He was a veteran of the Civil War and attended many of the G.A.R. encampments.¹

     Emily Caroline Hurt was born on 10 June 1856 in Salyersville, Magoffin County, Kentucky, the daughter of William Hurt and Thursey Burk.^1,2

Emily Caroline Hurt married Theodore Augustus Yelton, son of Elijah Yelton and Luthania Leland Barton, on 2 February 1879 in Kentucky.³ Emily C. Yelton, age 48 was listed as the wife of Theodore A. Yelton, age 54 in the 1900 Census of Boone County, Indiana.⁴ Emily C. Yelton, age 54 was listed as the wife of Theodore A. Yelton, age 64 in the 1910 Census of Harper County, Kansas.⁵ Emily C. Yelton, age 63 was listed as the wife of Theodore A. Yelton, age 73 in the 1920 Census of Harper, Harper County, Kansas.⁶ Emily C. Yelton, age 72 was listed as the mother of Barton A. Yelton, age 29 in the 1930 Census of Sedgwick County, Kansas.⁷ Emily Caroline Hurt died on 5 September 1941 in Harper, Harper County, Kansas.²

His registration stated that he was married, but had no young children.⁶ He was listed as the head of a household in the 1920 Census of Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California. The family included his wife, Doyle Yelton, age 25, his daughter, Billie Yelton, age 1 year and 4 months, his brother,Barton Yelton, age 19.⁷ Carl Yelton, age 43 was listed as the head of a household in the 1930 Census of Vallejo, Solano County, California. The household also included his wife, Doyle M. Yelton, age 34, his daughters, Billie Fay Yelton, age 11, Jean LaVon Yelton and May Doyle Yelton, age 7.⁵ Carl Yelton died on 26 June 1934.
