     James Yelton was born before 1722. ¹ On 9 September 1743 James witnessed the will of John Wheeler. in Overwharton Parish, Stafford County, Virginia. Other witnesses were John Payton and Richard Rogers.²

James Yelton married Isabel Hinson, daughter of Edmund Hinson and Elizabeth (?), on 13 November 1743 in Stafford County, Virginia.³ In 1744 James Yelton was a tailor, according to accounts presented in court by Peter Hedgman (executor of the estate of William Brent). This William Brent had died in 1742, leaving a nine year old son, also named William.⁴ In 1745 and 1746, he was again mentioned in accounts of William Brent's estate, for making a suit of clothes presumably for the young heir.⁵ In 1748 or 1749, James received further sums from the estate of Capt. William Brent for his services as a tailor.⁶ On 13 November 1759 James witnessed a deed between William George and William King Virginia. Other witnesses were William Berryman and Charles Morgan, Jr.⁷ 24 May 1779, James signed a petition to the House of Delegates requesting that the county seat of Stafford County be placed near the center of the county.⁸ He died in 1783 Virginia.⁹ James Yelton prepared an inventory of the estate of James Yelton. The inventory was returned and ordered recorded in Sept, 1784.. The inventory included the following items:

William Hutchins married Mary Canup on 15 December 1840 in Rutherford County, North Carolina.³ William Hutchens, age 31, was listed as the head of a household in the 1850 Census of Yancey County, North Carolina. Also living in the household were John Hutchens, age 15, Wright Hutchens, age 7, Mary Hutchens, age 40, Drucilla Hutchens, age 18, Rebecca Hutchens, age 16, Catharine Hutchens, age 13, Mary Hutchens, age 1 and James Hutchens, age 4. William reported owning no real estate.⁴ He was listed as the head of a household in the 1860 Census of Yancey County, North Carolina. Also living in the household were Mary Buchanan, age 41, Drucillar Buchanan, age 25, Wright Buchanan, age 17, James Buchanan, age 14, Mary Buchanan, age 10, Nancy Buchanan, age 8 and Leonard Buchanan, age 3. William reported owning no real estate, but had personal property worth $170. This family appears in the census with the surname Buchanan, possibly because there are other Buchanan families listed before them. But I know of no case in which any member of this family ever actually used that surname.⁵ He was listed as the head of a household in the 1870 Census of Mitchell County, North Carolina. Also living in the household were Polly Hutchins, age 62, Drusilla Hutchins, age 37, Leonard Hutchins, age 11, John W. Hutchins, age 8, Samuel Hutchins, age 5 and Molly Hutchins, age 2. William reported owning no real estate and no personal property. Drucilla Yelton and her four children are listed using the Hutchins surname, although William was her stepfather, not her father.² He was enumerated as the head of a household in the 1880 Census of Mitchell County, North Carolina. The family included his wife, Mary Hutchins, age 71, his daughter, Drusilla Hutchins, age 41, his grandson, John Y. Hutchins, age 20 and Samuel Hutchins, age 17, his granddaughter, Mary Hutchins, age 12. No relationship is stated between William and Drucilla, but Drucilla's children are identified as William's grandchildren. Every member of this household is recorded as illiterate.⁶ William Hutchins died after 1880 in Mitchell County, North Carolina.

     Dorcas C. Masters was born circa 1863 in North Carolina the daughter of Jacob Masters and Cordelia Hughes.¹

Dorcas C. Masters married William M. Garland, son of Charles Garland and Rhuhama Stanley, on 17 February 1882 in Mitchell County, North Carolina.² Dorcas C. Masters died on 25 April 1890 North Carolina.

     David Jefferson Garland was born in January 1892 in North Carolina.^4,3

David Jefferson Garland married Mary Williams, daughter of Sarah Ammons, on 13 October 1911 in Graham County, North Carolina.^4,1 Dave J. Garland, age 38 was listed as the head of a household in the 1930 Census of Graham County, North Carolina. The household also included his wife, Mary J. Garland, age 36, his sons, Wade J. Garland, age 16, Oliver F. Garland, age 14, Marshal L. Garland, age 11, T. Fred Garland, age 4 years and 8 months and Edward R. Garland, age 1 year and 4 months, his daughter, Eva J. Garland, age 8. The family is living on a farm which they rent.⁵ David Jefferson Garland died on 7 December 1956 North Carolina.¹ He was buried in Old Mother Church Cemetery, Robbinsville, Graham County, North Carolina, on 9 December 1956.¹

     John Grady Garland was born in April 1896 in North Carolina.^4,3

John Grady Garland married Rhoda Evelyn Lail, daughter of Granville Clifford Davis and Mary Lail, on 19 January 1919 in Graham County, North Carolina.⁴ J. Grady Garland, age 35 was listed as the head of a household in the 1930 Census of Graham County, North Carolina. The household also included his wife, Rhoda E. Garland, age 36, his son, W. Nathan Garland, age 10, his daughters, Ethel M. Garland, age 5 and Fannie E. Garland, age 16. The family is living on a farm, whch they rent. Fannie is identified as Grady's daughter in this census, although she was actually his stepdaughter.⁵ John Grady Garland died on 19 May 1972 North Carolina of pulmonary collapse.¹ He was buried in Old Mother Church Cemetery, Robbinsville, Graham County, North Carolina, on 21 May 1972.¹

Garland and Axie Yelton, on 2 June 1912 in Graham County, North Carolina.³ Wilburn Crisp, age 36 was listed as the head of a household in the 1920 Census of Graham County, North Carolina. The family included his wife, Hannah Crisp, age 23, his sons, Archie Crisp, age 6, Thomas Crisp, age 4 years and 3 months and Jessie Crisp, age one month, his daughter, Lennie Crisp, age 2 years and 1 month, his mother, Nonie Crisp, age 72.⁴ Wilburn Crisp died on 15 July 1952 North Carolina.²

     Icie Farley married James Garland, son of William M. Garland and Axie Yelton. Icie Farley and James Garland were divorced.¹

     Lloyd Edmund Crisp was born on 9 February 1895 in Graham County, North Carolina.^2,3 Lloyd registered for the World War I draft on 5 June 1917 North Carolina.³

Lloyd Edmund Crisp married Lydia Garland, daughter of William M. Garland and Axie Yelton, on 21 February 1920 North Carolina.² Lloyd Crisp, age 35 was listed as the head of a household in the 1930 Census of Graham County, North Carolina. The household also included his wife, Lydia Crisp, age 27, his sons, Jack Crisp, age 5 and Kenneth Crisp, age 1 year and 4 months, his daughter, Lois Crisp, age 3 years and 11 months.⁴ Lloyd Edmund Crisp died on 15 December 1945 in Buncombe County, North Carolina, at age 50. He was survived by his wife, Lydia Garland.¹
