AfriGeneas has designed a site to assist the African ancestored researcher, throughout the diaspora, find a path to the last slaveholder or the suspected last slaveholder. Records kept by the slaveowner are frequently the only clue to our ancestors, particularly during the period 1619-1869.

Fannin County Kept their Marriage Records separately from 1866-1916 so when ordering a certificate please note to check the Black records.

Also the county has many original certificates that were never picked up. Please check to see if your ancestors cert. if on file. You can have the original!

So far the only year volunteered is 1881

Shawneeka Noland sent in this marriage of her ancestor- Jonas E. Dupree (b. October 15, 1851) married Fannie Ellen (Holland) Dupree (b. March 12, 1861) wed on August 24, 1874 in Bonham Fannin county Texas. She is researching the Dupree, Jackson & Holland.

Broomville Cemetery is now located, it was at Elwood

There is an all Black Cemetery located near the Power Plant

north of Savoy. I understand it is near R.R. tracks but unable

to find it. If you can help please email me.
