In the Sanborn Fire Maps this information is shown:
In Jan. 1917 the "Negro" Public school was located
at that address , right
next to the Katy Railroad Tracks & another shown
on S. 2nd & S. Main.
No names on the schools.
In the 1932 Sanborn Fire Insurance maps
Booker T. Washington School is shown as being next
to the county home.
A closeup of the square shows it was built in 1928
and included a large wooden Gym
on the back of the lot.
The road is East 4th Street, four blocks south and
one to the East.
The Katy Tracks had been removed by that time.
I cannot find another African-American School listed
on the map. If you
