He ran a successful mortuary called "Barber & Hill" on the ground floor and used the upper floors for rooms to rent out. This building is now on the Registry of Historic Buildings. The restaurant called "Digger O'Dells" was located on the ground floor in recent years. The witnesses were John J. Sellwood and Annie E. Reddick. An article in the East Portland Newspaper said that Mr. Whitney was alleged to have been poisoned. He is recovered and was able to wed Miss Barber on Saturday last (East Portland news).1886 Death of Half SisterMrs. Christina Guild, daughter of Mrs. Henry Barber, came from Washington County to stay with her half-sister, Mrs. H. C. Whitney. She was in poor health and was hoping to get better medical care in the city. They weren't able to help her and on April 29th she passed away. She leaves 6 children (East Portland News)..1887 Death of SonWilliam A. passed away at the age of 20 and is buried at Union Cemetery (Lot 61, # 300).1888 Marriage of Son.John M. She is buried in the Union Cemetery with her first husband and children. There is a large monument and under her name it says "Mother" (Lot 61, # 298). Her obituary says that she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Inez Uhlman in Portland, Oregon on September 17. At the time of her death she was the widow of John Starr of Hillsboro. She was survived by three daughters; Inez Uhlman, Mrs. R. B. Collins of Hillsboro (Martha Ann), Mrs. Emma C. Powers of Beaver Creek, Columbia County and one son, John M. Reddick of Clatskanie. Union Cemetery RecordsSix members of the Reddick family are buried in Union Cemetery in Washington County, Oregon. They are located in Lot 61. 1922 Maplewood CemeteryIn Maplewood Cemetery in Clatskanie, Oregon is a tombstone for John Marion Reddick, 1854-1922. The GFO book states "DAR shows John Marion d 2 Feb 1922 at 63 years". Next to John is "Loran C. Reddick 1892-1918 USN" Next to Loran is "Ruth M. Janetting 6 May 1901 - 16 Jan 1971. She is listed as the daughter of John Reddick (Columbia County Cemetery Records, pg 24 of the GFO book).

His daughter married Edward Holman." The historic Barber Bldg at 532 SE Grand was built by Henry and his son-in-law, Edward Holman. He ran a successful mortuary called "Barber & Hill" on the ground floor and used the upper floors for rooms to rent out. This building is now on the Registry of Historic Buildings. The restaurant called "Digger O'Dells" was located on the ground floor in recent years. He is recovered and was able to wed Miss Barber on Saturday last (East Portland news).1886 Death of Half SisterMrs. Christina Guild, daughter of Mrs. Henry Barber, came from Washington County to stay with her half-sister, Mrs. H. C. Whitney. She was in poor health and was hoping to get better medical care in the city. They weren't able to help her and on April 29th she passed away. She is buried in the Union Cemetery with her first husband and children. There is a large monument and under her name it says "Mother" (Lot 61, # 298). Her obituary says that she died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Inez Uhlman in Portland, Oregon on September 17. At the time of her death she was the widow of John Starr of Hillsboro. She was survived by three daughters; Inez Uhlman, Mrs. R. B. Collins of Hillsboro (Martha Ann), Mrs. Emma C. Powers of Beaver Creek, Columbia County and one son, John M. Reddick of Clatskanie. They are located in Lot 61. 1922 Maplewood CemeteryIn Maplewood Cemetery in Clatskanie, Oregon is a tombstone for John Marion Reddick, 1854-1922. The GFO book states "DAR shows John Marion d 2 Feb 1922 at 63 years". Next to John is "Loran C. Reddick 1892-1918 USN" Next to Loran is "Ruth M. Janetting 6 May 1901 - 16 Jan 1971. She is listed as the daughter of John Reddick (Columbia County Cemetery Records, pg 24 of the GFO book).
