In [REF: # 90, Ch. VII, Kith & Kin, Pg176] writes:
William SURRATT was on the 1830 Census for McNairy Co., TN. a young man i between 20 & 30. His father died in the summer of 1830 because William started buying shares from a sister and brother so he must have been living on the land and wanted it badly. Someone in the family must have objected to William's eagerness, because in September of 1832 the Court appointed James ROBERSON, David S. KILLMAN, and David SHULTS to "Lay off & apportion to the heirs of James SURATT
Of James' heirs, William remained in McNairy Co., TN. and then, late in life, moved to Alcorn Co., MS. where he lived next to George T. SURRATT, apparently his son.
William's wife was Elizabeth CARR and her Mother Ann CARR, apparently married Sam WILSON late in life. Sam WILSON declared his division of property in the court of McNairy Co. by "gift of Deed" in Sep. 1833 before either of them was deceased. The document stated Elizabeth SURRATT, alias Elizabeth CARR, was to have a Negro boy naned "Prince" about 3 years old. One of Elizabeth (Carr) SURRATT's sisters was also named as Mary (Carr) HIGGINS, and this is significant because latter SURRATT families in Arkansas and Texas are intertwined with HIGGINS Families.

This indenture made August 22nd 1830 between WILLIS BOYD, of the State of Tennessee and County of McNairy , yeoman, and LUCINDA (SURRATT) BOYD, his wife and sister of WILLIAM SURRATT of the one part and WILLIAM SURRATT of the State and County aforesaid yeoman of the other part. Witness that the said WILLIS BOYD and LUCINDA his wife, for and in consideration of the sum of twenty five dollars ($25) to him in hand paid by the said WILLIAM SURRATT at and before the unsealing and delivering hereof the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and thereof acquit and forever discharge the said WILLIAM SURRATT, his heirs, exectors, administrations by these presents, has granted, bargained, sold, and alienated,
