As per [REF: #90, Pg 175] believes the James SARRET, that shows up
in the Franklin Co., TN. 1830 Census is our subject James,4 SURRATT.
They state "An interesting fact is that Franklin Co., TN. was created
in 1807, from the larger Bedford & Warren Co's and is on the Alabama
boarder, adjacent to Madison Co., AL., where a SURRATT family lived as
shall be explaned." |

Heirs of James SURRATT, dec'd Sep. 1832 (sic 1830)
Source: [REF: #90, Pg 176] |
James,4 SURRATT, died in the summer of 1830 because
oldest son William H. SURRATT promptly started buying shares
from older sister Mrs. Lucinda A. (Surratt) BOYD
[See Aug 22 1830 "Indenture"]
and brother so he must have been living on the land and wanted it badly.
Someone in the family must have objected to William's egerness,
because in Sep. 1832 (sic 1830) the McNairy Co., Court appointed:
James ROBERSON, <---Son-In-Law m. 2nd Dau Sarah SURRATT, a19y
David S. KILLMAN, and
David SHULTS:
A Widow's dowry was also set off. <--Wife Name Not Listed!
To lay off and apportion to the heirs of James SURRATT, dec'd of
117 acres of land laying on the waters of the "Snake Creek"
the quantity of land that each is entitled to.
