This cemetery, originally known as the Sherrod Neighborhood Graveyard, is located at the intersection of Eureka Road and Sherrod Hill Road in Elk Creek Township. It has been listed as Sherrod Hill Cemetery, but the recent photo above shows it being called Sherrod Greenfield Cemetery.
This land was originally owned by Andrew Sherrod and deeded to trustees Martin Greenfield and Levi White the 12th of April 1852. A copy of the original deed was located in 1985 and has been transcribed. Click here to view the deed.
The cemetery was in fair condition, but had been neglected prior to 1985. In October 1985 the area was cleaned out and the stones listed below have been accounted for, except as indicated. Older readings were used to fill in information for some stones that were not found. This reading was completed at that time (Oct 1985) by Bonnie R. Guilford and Margaret Goodell.
This listing has been provided in May 2001 for posting to the Erie County (PA) Genealogy website by Bonnie R. Guilford. Current condition of this cemetery is personally unknown to Bonnie, or to Erie Co (PA) Genealogy website maintainer (Bill Klauk), but photos shown above indicate that it is now in good condition and appears to be well maintained after a Boy Scout Eagle project in September 2000.
Please submit any updated information concerning this cemetery to Bill Klauk.
