Stouder Cemetery
Off Stouder/Gibbs intersection, Goshen Township
N 39˚ 13.877 W084˚
08.014 within 29ft
Directions:
Take St. Rt 28 out of Milford towards
Goshen. You will drive through Goshen.
Note: Cozzadale Road on left. Next road
“Stouder Road” turn right. Continue on Stouder. You will come to the “dead end” of
Stouder in which Gibbs Road continues and picks-
up at very sharp
curve. At this sharp curve continue on a “blacktop” driveway. This driveway takes a sharp curve – continue
on blacktop.
Next sharp curve – stop-- look up – do not go
toward right (towards house). Drive straight into the grass driveway with a fence on the
left.
Continue driving on this grassy drive. You
will see where it ends and picks up toward the left-- to go over a creek. I did not drive over this
creek. I
parked here and walked through the dry creek and straight up the “open
hill”. You will see the cemetery from the creek.
If you feel confident enough to drive in a grassy – rock mix and can
walk up a hill you can make this trip.
Pictures and additional inscriptions were taken by Debra Thomason,
volunteer, and Pamela Smith. CCGS member,
in November 2008.
We pieced puzzles together all day and dug most of the time. This
cemetery is almost gone
due to deterioration whether caused by the
environment or vandalism--- it is hard to determine. We were disappointed
that so many
graves are gone or destroyed. Glad we were able to find what
we did. Found a few new ones.
Stone we could not locate previously recorded.
