The three top links list databases on this site that have been contributed to by volunteers. Enjoy them! The information to these databases has not been confirmed by the webmaster of these pages, but they do provide valuable information. Civil registration of births, marriages, and
deaths (Vital Statistics) began in Manitoba in 1882. Before 1882 local
church records are the best source of information, but keep in mind
that churches, recorded baptisms and burials, not the actual birth and
death dates. To search for records the denomination must be known to
search church registrations of baptisms, marriages, and deaths. Parish,
diocese, or mission district should be known as well. The Province has now set up a web site to allow researchers to look up major life event records. The electronic record is not a complete record and researchers will have to contact Vital Statistics to obtain a complete record. They will be searched only when the denomination is known. |
